The murder inquiry regarding the disappearance of 41 year-old Mr. Rudolph (Rudy) Lamar Smith is ongoing. Mr. Smith, described as brown skinned of slim build, 5’8” tall with close black hair, brown eyes and a goatee, was last seen alive around 7pm Monday July 9th 2012, walking in the area of One-Way Deepdale in Pembroke parish.
Investigators continue to urge anyone that may have any information about the last movements or whereabouts of Mr. Smith, whether they believe it to be important or not, to contact the Serious Crime Unit on telephone number 247-1739 or the confidential and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.
Around 3:45pm on Thursday, October 11th police officers executed a search warrant at a North Street, Pembroke residence in relation to an ongoing investigation. As a result, one male was arrested at that location. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
Reported Gunshots in St. Monica’s Road Area - Around 10:40pm on Wednesday, October 10th police responded to reports of gunshots in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. After an initial search of the area, no evidence was found to substantiate the reports. In addition, there were no reported injuries. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area or who may have any information is encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
Reported Serious Collision in Devonshire - Around 12:45pm on Tuesday, October 9th police and first responders attended a reported serious two vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near Barkers Hill. Details are unclear at this time; however it appears that a car and a motorcycle collided at that location.
The motorcycle rider, believed to be a 47 year old Hamilton parish man, was seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 36 year old Micah Hollis of Southampton. Around 6pm on Friday, October 5th police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency at a Homestead Lane, Southampton residence, where Mr. Hollis was found in an unresponsive state. CPR was performed on Mr. Hollis at the scene and continued as he was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance; however he was subsequently pronounced dead at 6:32pm by an on call doctor. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances; however an autopsy is anticipated in due course.
Reported Collision in Southampton - Around 11pm on Friday, October 5th police attended a reported single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton. It appears that a taxi was being driven along Middle Road when it collided with a wall and overturned. The taxi driver, a 52 year old Sandys parish man, reportedly sustained a minor arm injury as a result. There were no other injuries reported and apparently there were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time. The taxi received damage to multiple areas. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
Investigation Underway Into Specific Allegation - The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a specific allegation made by a member of the public during Magistrates’ Court proceedings on Wednesday, October 3rd regarding a police employee. As a result, an investigation into the allegation is underway.

Members of the pubic who walk or run along Bermuda’s roads, particularly during the hours of darkness, are reminded to wear the appropriate safety gear e.g. reflective clothing and or light coloured clothing.
Acting Chief Inspector Robert W. Cardwell - The Bermuda Police Service is announcing that the authority to disperse
groups in the area commonly referred to as White Hill in Sandys Parish, specifically: Middle Road between Spring Benny Road and Farmstead Lane; Spring Benny Lane, Spring Benny Drive, Spring Benny Road, White Hill View, Rockywold Drive, Rockywold Road, Butterfield Lane, Woodlawn Road, Fairhaven Lane, White Hill Lane, Farmstead Lane and any public place contiguous to any of these roads, has been re-issued under the authority of Acting Chief Inspector Robert Cardwell, the current Western Area Commander.
The period of this ‘Authority’ shall be between 8am on Saturday, 6th October, 2012 and 11:59pm on Friday, 19th October, 2012. It is necessary to exercise these powers to combat incidents of playing loud music, using offensive language, distributing illegal drugs, consuming alcohol in public and other criminal offences suffered within this community including burglary, theft, robbery, and the willful damage of private property that have caused residents to feel intimidated, harassed, alarmed and distressed by the congregation of groups.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 18 year old Shae-Quan Astwood of Sandys parish.
Around 5pm on Sunday, September 30th Mr. Astwood was involved in a serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on South Road in Southampton in the vicinity of Turtle Bay Lane. Mr. Astwood was seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Collision in Devonshire - Around 8pm on Tuesday, October 2nd police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Garthowen Road. Details are unclear at this time; however it appears that a motorcycle was being ridden along Middle Road when a collision occurred with a male pedestrian, who seemed to be disoriented.
