Investigation Into Reported Assault - Police are investigating a report of assault that took place Saturday night at the World Ruby Classic (second game). As a result a man has been arrested in connection with an off ball assault that took place during the USA/South Africa match.
Police are appealing for witnesses, specifically anyone who may have video images of the assault, to contact Sergeant Derek Berry on 295-0011.
Around 8:15pm on Friday, November 9th police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision located on South Road in Warwick near Marley Beaches.
Details are sketchy but it appears that three motorcycles were involved in a collision and as a result four persons were injured. At this time, a 16 year old male and an 18 year old male have been taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. At last check the 16 year old was in the Intensive Care Unit in fair condition and the 18 year old was recovering on a general ward.
Burglary Advisory - Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. In particular residents are advised to secure their air conditioning units, while making sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended - as recently there have been reported burglaries where the culprit(s) apparently gained entry by tampering with or removing window air conditioning units
Reported Stolen Vehicle - Around 7:20am on Tuesday, November 6th police received a report of a stolen vehicle. It appears that sometime between 11:30pm on Monday, November 5th and 6am on Tuesday, November 6th a white Toyota Hi-Ace van bearing license plate IN 2226 was removed from outside a Harbour Road, Paget residence. Anyone who may know the whereabouts of this white van is encouraged to contact the main police number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.
Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva states: “It is with great sadness that I report the untimely passing of our colleague
and friend, Police Constable Garth Francis. He was in hospital in his home of Dominica when he lost the battle against a protracted illness on Sunday afternoon. He was 41, and he is survived by his mother and three children.
Confirmed Firearm Incident in Southampton - Around 8:45pm on Tuesday, November 6th police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Scenic Heights Pass in Southampton parish. Forensic evidence found at the scene confirmed that a firearm had been discharged; however there were no reported injuries.
Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around the time of this confirmed firearm incident is encouraged to contact the main police number on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
Advisory: Securing Parked Motorcycles & Auxiliary Cycles - The Bermuda Police Service continues to remind motorcycle and auxiliary cycle owners/riders to securely lock their vehicles before leaving them unattended. Recently several motorcycles were removed from the City of Hamilton area, apparently as a result of being left unlocked or having keys left in their ignitions.
Motorcycles and auxiliary cycles should be secured at the handlebars, as well as with a good quality supplemental lock before being left unattended for any extended period of time.
Investigation Ongoing Following Disturbance - Detectives are continuing their inquiries into the disturbance that occurred around 3:30pm Sunday, November 4th at St. David’s Cricket Club, where a 28 year old male was injured. The victim, who was treated for his injuries at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later released, was assaulted by several offenders despite the presence of eleven police officers at the sports club ground that afternoon, along with other police officers outside the premises and private security personnel on duty.
Around 11pm on Sunday, November 4th police officers responded to reports of gunshots at an Eastdale Lane, Southampton residence. Forensic evidence found at the scene confirmed that a firearm had been discharged; however there were no reported injuries.

Arrests Made Following Disturbance - Around 3:30pm on Sunday, November 4th police officers responded to a reported disturbance at St. David’s Cricket Club. One male was injured and is being treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital as a result. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
