Collision Victim Remains in ICU - At last check the 18 year old Sandys parish man seriously injured in a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Sunday, September 30th in Southampton remains in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Gavin Richardson on 295-0011.

Arrest Made: Pedestrian Struck By Fleeing Motorcyclist

A 23 year old Hamilton parish man has been arrested in connection with the motorcycle collision that injured a female pedestrian on Court Street in Pembroke around 3:45am on Saturday, September 29th.

Reported Serious Collision in Southampton - Around 5pm on Sunday, September 30th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road. The motorcycle rider, an 18 year old Sandys parish man, was apparently seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Collision in Paget - Around 6:30pm on Thursday, September 27th police and first responders attended a reported collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Harvey Road. It appears that a car and a motorcycle were traveling along South Road when the vehicles collided.

As a result the motorcycle rider and his pillion passenger, a 25 year old Warwick woman, were injured. Both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.  The male rider was later discharged while the female pillion passenger is currently in stable condition on a general ward.

Collision in Sandys Parish - Around 7:40pm on Wednesday, September 26th police and first responders attended a reported collision on Somerset Road in Sandys parish. It appears that a rental cycle was being ridden over Somerset Bridge when the collision occurred with a nearby wall.

The rental cycle rider and his passenger, a 52 year old American man and an 11 year old American boy respectively, were injured as a result. Both visitors were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged. Inquiries into this collision are underway.

Three Vehicle Collision in Pembroke - Around 8am on Tuesday, September 25th police attended a reported three vehicle collision near the junction of Parsons Road and The Glebe Road in Pembroke. It appears that two cars and a taxi were traveling along Parsons Road when they collided. All three vehicles were damaged as a result; however only minor injuries were reported. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Arrest Made: Lorenzo Stovell Murder Investigation

The Bermuda Police Service has taken a 24 year old Sandys Parish resident into custody in relation to the murder of Lorenzo Stovell. The subject was arrested early this evening by officers from our Armed Response Units.

Investigations are continuing as we continue to progress the evidence in this case.

We will continue to keep the public updated on the progress of this case, and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing the offender(s) to justice.

Traffic Advisory: Funeral of Major Christian Wheddon

The funeral service for Bermuda Regiment Officer Major Christian Wheddon will take place at the Anglican Cathedral, Church Street. City of Hamilton on Tuesday, September 25th 2012 commencing at 2pm.

No Parking

No parking of vehicles on Church Street will be allowed between Parliament Street and Burnaby Street (both sides) from 7am until the funeral procession has left the church on Tuesday, September 25th 2012.

Witness Appeal: Reported Serious Assault & Robbery

The Bermuda Police Service Serious Crime Unit is investigating a serious assault on and robbery of a 33 year old male. This incident occurred about 12:30am on Wednesday 19th September, 2012 at the Beach Bar & Bistro, located at #103 Front Street.

The victim was socializing with friends when he was set upon by a group of men who assaulted him and robbed him of jewelry around his neck. The victim suffered a fractured jaw on both sides of his face. As a result he underwent surgery to repair the injuries at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Investigation Into The Murder of Lorenzo Stovell

Superintendent James Howard - On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service, I wish to begin by expressing sincere condolences to the family and friends of 24 year old Pembroke resident, Mr. Lorenzo Stovell who tragically lost his life on Sunday evening. 

The murder of Mr. Stovell represents the 3rd death caused by the use of a firearm in Bermuda this year. Four persons have been shot and injured (and not died) in 2012.

The Bermuda Police Service recognizes that this incident will undoubtedly impact the local community. We want to reassure the community that the Bermuda Police Service will use all the resources at its disposal to bring the offender or offenders to justice.
