Confirmed Firearm Incident - Police responded to reports of gun shots being fired in the area of Somerset Road in Sandys parish around 12:15am on Thursday, October 25th. Upon police arrival it was forensically confirmed that gun shots were discharged in that area, however there were no reported injuries. The area was secured and an active investigation has commenced into this confirmed firearm incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone that may have seen persons acting suspiciously in the area of Somerset Road and Ledgelets Lane to contact police on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Two Vehicle Collision in Devonshire

At approximately 4:15pm police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place between a car and motorcycle on South Road and Tee Street in Devonshire.

The rider of the motorcycle has been taken to the hospital with suspected head injuries; however the seriousness of his injuries are unknown at this point.

The motoring public is being advised to avoid the area of South Road and Tee Street and to expect delays as traffic collision investigators are carrying out their duties. Update: That section of road has since re-opened to normal traffic flow.

October 24 - Daily Report

Single Vehicle Collision  - Around 1:40am on Wednesday, October 24th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Seymour Farm Road. The motorcycle rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition on a general ward. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Police Constable Connie Saltus at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Police Need Your Help in Locating Maxwell Smith

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for information on the whereabouts of Maxwell Mustapha Smith born 14th April, 1972.

Police need to speak with Mr. Smith, who is described as light skinned, approximately 6’ tall weighing 210 pounds but efforts to contact him have been without success.

If anyone has any information on where Mr. Smith can be located you are asked to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Police responded to multiple reports of gun shots being fired in the area of Peet Point Lane in Smith’s parish around 10:55pm last night (Monday, October 22nd).

Upon police arrival it was forensically confirmed that gun shots were discharged in that area, however there were no reported injuries.

The area was secured and an active investigation has commenced into this confirmed firearm incident.

Advisory: Online Scams

As a result of recent on-line scamming reports, the Financial Crime Unit of the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind the public to remain vigilant in their dealings with vendors when shopping on the internet. The public are advised not to send ‘wire transfers’ to overseas vendors for payment of goods you have not seen or received.

Furthermore the public are advised to be wary of any vendor who utilizes a generic e-mail domain such as gmail.com, hotmail.com or yahoo.com. Recent losses to the Bermuda public have related to the sale of heavily discounted ‘unlocked’ cellular phones and pets from overseas vendors.

Four Men in Court on Firearm Charges

Four men appeared in Magistrates’ Court today in relation to a firearms incident that took place on the 28th of February 2012 on Mission Lane in Pembroke where a man received injuries as a result of this incident.

27 year old Jahkeil Samuels, 23 year old Ronniko Burchall and 22 year old Jamin Saltus were all charged with:

  • Conspiracy to commit murder.
  • Attempted murder.
  • Using a firearm to commit an indictable offence.

Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 2:30am on Saturday, October 20th police officers on mobile patrol along South Road in Paget observed a motorcycle being ridden through the area in an erratic manner. The motorcyclist, a 32 year old Sandys parish man, was caused to stop as a result and appeared to be intoxicated. He was then arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
