Collisions - Around 6:30am on Wednesday May 2nd, police and first responders attended a reported pedal cycle collision on Pender Road in Sandys. It appears that a pedal cyclist was travelling along Pender Road when he lost control and fell to the ground. The rider, a 41 year old Sandys man was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Witnesses to this incident are encouraged to contact PC Kevin Medeiros on 295-0011.

One Year Later: Jason Smith Murder Investigation Ongoing

The Bermuda Police Service would first of all like to acknowledge the assistance provided to them by members of the public in relation to the murder of Jason Smith one year ago.

Investigators continue to pursue all new lines of enquiry, but to date no one has been brought to justice for this heinous murder.

Our thoughts are obviously with Jason's family and friends during this very difficult time.

Collision - Around 10am on Monday April 30th, police and first responders attended a single vehicle collision on South Road near the junction with Dolphin Ridge in Southampton. It appears that a car was travelling along South Road when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 31 year old Paget woman was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. The car received extensive front-end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

April 30 - Daily Report

Collision - Around 6:10pm on Sunday, April 29th police and first responders attended a reported collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Fractious Street involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along North Shore Road when they collided. The motorcycle rider, a 27 year old Pembroke man, received a leg injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Both vehicles were damaged as a result; however there were no other injuries reported. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

April 29 - Weekend Report

Reported Serious Collisions - Around 3:55am on Sunday, April 29th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle collision on Cemetery Road in Pembroke near the junction with Serpentine Road. It appears that a car was traveling along Cemetery Road when it collided with a fence and overturned. The driver, a 25 year old Pembroke woman, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. There were no other injuries reported. The car was extensively damaged as a result. Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses to this collision are encouraged to contact PC Lloyd Peterkin on 295-0011.

Town Hill Collision: Witness Appeal - The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle collision that occurred around 11:30am on Thursday April 26th in the Town Hill Road, Smith’s area.

It appears that a car was travelling along Town Hill Road when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 39 year old Paget woman and an 11 month old infant were both injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check, the 39 year old Paget woman had been treated and released from the hospital while the 11 month old female infant remains in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Update: Town Hill Road Collision

Around 11:30am on Thursday April 26th, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision in the Town Hill Road, Smith’s area. It appears that a car was travelling along Town Hill Road when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 39 year old Paget woman and the backseat passenger, an 11 month old infant were both injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Initially their injuries were not believed to be life threatening; however the infant is currently in the Intensive Care Unit while the Paget woman is still being assessed at the hospital. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

2012 First Quarter Crime Statistics

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - Overview: Over the long term, total crime continues on a downward trend and remains virtually unchanged from the previous quarter. At 1,163 total crimes, the quarterly average is consistent with the previous 12 month period. Moderate increases in some categories have been equalised by moderate decreases in others. This is within the normal ebb and flow of individual crime classifications that we would expect to see from quarter to quarter. For a more accurate crime picture, statistics are normally compared over periods of 12 months and longer.

Collision - Around 11:30am on Thursday April 26th, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision in the Town Hill Road, Smith’s area. It appears that a car was travelling along Town Hill Road when it collided with a wall. Collision - Around 4:50pm on Tuesday April 24th, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Ord Road. It appears that a car and a motorcycle were travelling along Middle Road when they collided. The rider, a 48 year old Warwick woman was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, which is a Government vehicle, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
