Collisions - Around 3:45pm on Monday April 23rd, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Heron View Lane between a motorcycle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 13 year old Southampton boy received a leg injury and was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The rider, a 22 year old Southampton woman, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Appeal Launched After Man Found Bound & Wrapped in Sheet

Around 1:40am Saturday, 21st April 2012 police were on patrol in the North Shore Road, East Park Lane Pembroke area when they drove past three men carrying a long object. The officers turned around to investigate further but the men made off from the area. The officers discovered a man, bound by his hands and feet and wrapped in a sheet, left behind on the sidewalk.

The 50 year old man, a resident from the area, fortunately was not injured. The three suspects were not located despite a thorough search of the area, but various items have been collected that are being examined for fingerprints and DNA.

Circulation of Misleading Text Message

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a text message widely circulated over the weekend suggesting that a man had been shot somewhere in the western parishes. We would like to assure the public that no such report was made to the police, no-one was treated at the hospital for gunshot injuries and no-one has come forward to verify the text message.

The Bermuda Police Service wishes to caution against the pitfalls of disseminating unsubstantiated information via mobile devices and social media. This is not the first example of unconfirmed reports and inaccurate information that have sparked unnecessary anxiety throughout the community.

Two Men Convicted For Involvement in North Shore Shooting

Today in the Supreme Court Pelealkhai Williams and Jonathan Dill were convicted as a result of their guilty pleas with regards to their involvement in the shooting of a man outside the Gravity Nightclub on the 8th October 2011.

Williams pleaded guilty to a charge of ‘Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence with a Firearm’ and ‘Wounding with Intent’. Dill pleaded guilty to a charge of ‘Accessory After The Fact to Wounding with Intent’. Both men will be sentenced at a later date.

Impaired Drivers - Around 1:25am on Saturday April 21st, police were on mobile patrol in the City of Hamilton when they noticed a car driving erratically near the corner of Court Street and Front Street. Officers stopped the car and approached the driver, a 27 year old Devonshire woman, who appeared to be intoxicated. She was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. She later failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Burglary Advisory - Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. Recently there have been a number of reported daytime burglaries in various parishes throughout the island. As a result, the public is encouraged to make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time.

We also continue to recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions.

Collision - Around 4pm on Tuesday April 17th, police and first responders attended a reported collision at the junction of Malabar Road and Runway Lane in Sandys. It appears that a car and an auxiliary cycle were travelling along Malabar Road when they collided. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16 year old Sandys male was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of a leg injury. He was later released. The driver, an 82 year old Sandys man was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Burglary - Around 5:15am on Tuesday, April 17th police responded to a reported burglary at Robinson’s Marina on Somerset Road in Sandys parish. It appears that three unknown suspects gained entry into the service station, removed a quantity of cash and made good their escape. The offenders were wearing helmets at the time. The scene has been forensically examined and inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding this matter to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Policing for Annual Agricultural Exhibition

Update: Reported Serious Collision – Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses with regard to a reported serious single vehicle collision that occurred in the Palmetto Road, Roberts Avenue Devonshire area around 1am on Saturday April 14th. It appears that the victim, a 53 year old Smith’s parish man, was riding a motorcycle through the area when the incident occurred. He was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The Smith’s man has since been flown overseas for further medical treatment.
