Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 3:45am on Sunday, April 21st police officers on mobile patrol along South Road in Paget near the junction with Bellevue Drive encountered an auxiliary cycle being ridden erratically through the area.
As a result the rider, a 23 year old Pembroke man, was caused to stop. He appeared to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Van Collision on Harbour Road - Around 3:45pm on Thursday, April 18th police officers attended a reported single vehicle collision on Harbour Road in Warwick near the junction with Warwick Park Road.
It appears that a van was being driven along Harbour Road when it collided with a wall. As a result, the vehicle ended up on its side. The driver, a 21 year old Southampton man, sustained minor arm injuries which did not require hospital treatment. There were no other injuries reported. The van was extensively damaged.
Damage Only Collision in Southampton Involving a Police Vehicle - Around 2:55pm on Monday, April 15th police officers attended a reported two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass.
Initial information suggested that the collision resulted in injury; however it was later confirmed that no one was injured.
Update: Reported Serious Rental Cycle Collision in Paget - The 59 year old American man injured in a single vehicle rental cycle collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Honey Hill around 11:30am Friday, April 12th has been flown overseas for further medical treatment after initially receiving medical care at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
His wife was the pillion passenger at the time and received relatively minor injuries in the collision. Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Christopher Brady on 295-0011.
Marine Incident in Hamilton Harbour - Around 1:15am on Sunday, April 14th police officers including members of the Marine Unit and first responders were dispatched to a reported marine incident in Hamilton harbour after a private vessel ran aground on Saltus Island.
Initial information suggests that a 61 year old American woman was the only person onboard at the time injured. She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check she was recovering on a general ward. The other persons onboard at the time also attended the hospital for medical assessment as a precaution.
Police received several reports of gunshots heard in the area of Curving Avenue and St. Augustine's Hill Pembroke today (Sunday) at 12:45pm.
Upon police arrival it was confirmed that a firearm incident had taken place and a 19 year old Pembroke man was conveyed to the hospital where he was treated and released for superficial gunshot wounds.
Sudden Death in Sandys Parish - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 83 year old Anson Simmons of Sandys parish. Mr. Simmons was found around 8:15am Friday, April 12th in an unresponsive state along the Railway Trail in Sandys parish after apparently going for his usual morning walk.
EMTs provided CPR at the scene; however Mr. Simmons was subsequently pronounced dead. There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Simmons on his passing.
Crime Prevention Advice Regarding Burglaries - Progress has been made regarding inquiries into recent reported burglaries; however members of the public should remain vigilant for suspicious activity or individuals in their neighbourhoods.
In particular, residents should be aware of unknown persons on motorcycles frequenting homes during the day. Take note of identifiable information such as the colour, make and license plate details of any suspicious vehicle as well as a description of the individual(s) involved.
Reported Serious Collision in Warwick - Around 12:15am on Wednesday, April 10th police and first responders attended a reported serious single vehicle motorcycle collision on St. Mary’s Road in Warwick near the junction with Lorraine Drive.
The rider, a 51 year old Devonshire man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in stable condition. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 1:30am on Monday, April 8th police officers on mobile patrol along Crow Lane in Pembroke near Spurling Hill encountered an auxiliary cycle being ridden erratically through the area.
Officers caused the auxiliary cycle rider, a 35 year old St. George’s man, to stop. He appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
