Burglary - Around 6:15pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a North Shore Road, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:50am and 5:40pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole two laptop computers and a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 33 year old Bethany Heinrichs of Baltimore Maryland U.S.A. Around 1:50pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Pender Road in Sandys parish. It appears that the victim, a 33 year old female visitor to the island, was riding a rental cycle traveling west on Pender Road when she lost control and collided with the curb. She sustained serious chest & abdominal injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. She was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:45pm Tuesday. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Community Safety Workshop

The Bermuda Police Service Crime Prevention Unit will hold a community safety workshop on Saturday, 21st November 2009 from 10am to 12 noon at Southside Police Station in St. David’s.

This workshop will provide information on neighbourhood watches, home security and burglary prevention as well as the U-Mark initiative. All are welcome to attend.

She sustained suspected internal injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

St. David's Shooting Suspects to be Bailed - A 28 year old Pembroke man and an 18 year old Hamilton parish man arrested in connection with the shooting outside Southside Cinema will be released on Police bail today pending forensic results. The Bermuda Police Service is expediting the examination of all physical evidence but still need support from any witnesses who were in the area and have not yet contacted us. Investigators have received good assistance from members of the public so far; however anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant they think it may be is urged to contact the Serious Crime Unit office on 299-8115.

Proactive Policing

Around 3:45pm today, Police attended the area of St. Monica’s Road & The Glebe Road in Pembroke. Based on information received, officers from the Public Protection Department executed a search warrant at a residence where a quantity of controlled drugs and a cache of weapons was seized, including bladed weapons & incendiary devices; however no firearms were recovered. Several arrests were also made on suspicion of firearm and or drug offences. Inquiries are ongoing.

Update - Shooting in St. David’s

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright - There have been shooting incidents on 3 consecutive weekends starting on Halloween resulting in gunshot injuries to five victims. The Bermuda Police Service is very concerned about this escalation of violence which appears to be gang related. Naturally there is also a great deal of alarm and anxiety shared by many people in our community. I want to assure everyone that reducing the violence and catching and convicting the persons responsible is a top priority for the Bermuda Police Service.

November 16 - Daily Report

Burglary - Around 7:50pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cedar Hill, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that she was downstairs watching TV when she heard noises in an upstairs room. When she went to investigate, she discovered an unknown man inside the premises. On being seen, the intruder made good his escape on foot. The suspect is described as wearing a red sweat top and a grey hat. It does not appear that anything was taken. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Witness Appeal – St. David’s Shooting - Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the shooting which took place outside of Southside Cinema around 11:30pm Friday. The victims, a 26 year old Pembroke man and a 24 year old Warwick woman, remain in hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Around 11:30pm Friday, Police responded to a report of gunshots outside of Southside Cinema in St. George’s. As a result, a 26 year old Pembroke man and a 24 year old Warwick woman are being treated at KEMH for gunshot wounds.

Police have arrested a 28 year old Pembroke man and an 18 year old Devonshire man in connection with this matter. Police have also seized a firearm which may have been used in the incident.
