At 7:30pm on Friday, November 20th three officers from the Bermuda Police Service Eastern Community Action Team (ECAT) met with young people at the St. George’s Community Centre to provide them with pedal cycle lights.
Injury RTC - Around 2:30pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Old Military Road in Devonshire involving a motorcycle and a van. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling east on Old Military Road and the van was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 50 year old Pembroke man, was apparently not injured; however his pillion passenger, a 44 year old Devonshire woman, received a cut to the right side of her face and complained of pain to her right side. Despite her injuries, she declined medical attention from EMTs at the scene.
The Bermuda Police Service recently recovered a stolen camera. On the camera were specific images; the pictures were
taken on a Hannah Montana camera. On the same camera as these images, there are also pictures of children in Harrington Sound Primary School uniform.
Theft - At 9am on Tuesday, Police received a report of a theft from an unattended vehicle. The complainant stated that at 8pm on Monday she returned to her Stacey Estates Road, Warwick residence and parked her car. She took some groceries inside and returned to the car, only to find an unknown man inside the vehicle. The Warwick resident confronted the offender, who made good his escape on foot with an old Nokia cellular phone. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’ 10” tall of slim build with short hair. He was wearing a shirt, khaki pants and sneakers and appeared to be 25 to 35 years old. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Suspicious Object - At 3:40am on Sunday, Police received a report of a suspicious object at Somerset Cricket Club grounds. Officers were already at the scene monitoring patrons leaving a function at the premises when they heard a loud noise and saw smoke. Officers located the source of the blast and discovered a suspected home-made explosive device in a courtyard area. The simple device consisted of a plastic bottle containing a liquid substance. No one was injured. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. The offending item was seized for further analysis. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Burglary
Injury RTC - Around 10:20pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Warwick near the junction with Camp Road involving a taxi, a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the taxi was traveling west on South Road and the auxiliary cycle was traveling in the opposite direction followed by the motorcycle when the vehicles collided. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16 year old young man sustained head injuries and an injury to his right hand.
The Bermuda Police Service has purchased three 3-wheeled electric cycles for deploying officers in large pedestrian areas and neighbourhoods. The cycles are currently being evaluated by our driving staff, protocols are being finalised and officers are being selected to receive training. Once this has all been completed, a full announcement to the public will be made.
At 4:50pm on Thursday, the Bermuda Police Service executed a search warrant at an Addendum Lane, Pembroke commercial premises. Due to the nature of the information received armed officers were deployed to assist; however, no arrests were made and nothing liable to seizure was discovered.
Assault - Around 1:20am today, Police received a report of an assault at the junction of Parsons Road and St. Augustine Road in Pembroke. On arrival at the scene a short time later, officers observed the victim, a 19 year old Pembroke man, lying in the road. It appears that the Pembroke man was walking in the area when he was attacked by several unknown men wearing hooded tops. The assailants then made good their escape. The victim attended KEMH for treatment and subsequently checked himself out of the hospital. He declined to make a formal complaint regarding the incident. Inquiries are underway.
