Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 33 year old Bethany Heinrichs of Baltimore Maryland U.S.A. Around 1:50pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Pender Road in Sandys parish. It appears that the victim, a 33 year old female visitor to the island, was riding a rental cycle traveling west on Pender Road when she lost control and collided with the curb. She sustained serious chest & abdominal injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. She was subsequently pronounced dead by an on call physician at 8:45pm Tuesday. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact PC Lesa Stovell at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
The death of Bethany Heinrichs marks the 13th road fatality for 2009.
Burglary
Around 12:40pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Glenwood Park Crescent, Warwick residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:10am and 11:45am that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Advisory
Police are continuing to receive reports of burglaries, particularly in the western parishes recently. Yesterday alone there were three other reported daytime burglaries at homes on Harbour Road in Warwick, Riviera Road in Southampton and Friths Farm Road in Paget as well as an attempted burglary at a residence on Salt Kettle Lane in Paget; however it appears that nothing was taken from any of those premises. A 47 year old Warwick man has been arrested in connection with the Harbour Road, Warwick burglary.
As a result, Police are asking the public to remain vigilant for any suspicious individuals or activities in their neighbourhoods. Anyone with any information about these incidents is encouraged to call the main Police number, 295-0011.
