November 8 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC - At 9:15am today, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Dundonald Street and Brunswick Street in Pembroke involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling west on Dundonald Street and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 48 year old Southampton man, complained of pain to his body and was taken to KEMH for treatment. The driver of the car, a 33 year old Pembroke woman, was not injured. The car received front end damage while the motorcycle was also damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Update - Shooting in Middletown

Approximately 6pm Friday, November 6th Police attended a report of gunshots in the area of King Street and Middletown Lane in Pembroke. As a result, a 24 year old Pembroke man and a 31 year old Devonshire man were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. The 31 year old Devonshire man has since been released from the hospital and the 24 year old Pembroke man remains on a general ward.

Inquiries are ongoing. The Serious Crime Unit has 20 detectives investigating this incident and has adequate resources available to assist if necessary. A 26 year old Pembroke man is currently in custody in connection with this matter.

Shooting in Middletown

Around 6pm today, Police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of King Street and Middletown Lane in Pembroke. As a result, a 24 year old Pembroke man and a 31 year old Devonshire man are being treated at KEMH for gunshot wounds.

Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact Acting Chief Inspector Calvin Smith at the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011. We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the King Street/Middletown Lane area between 4pm and 6pm Friday and saw anyone acting suspiciously.

Reported Gunshots in Devonshire - Around 8am today, Police received a report of what was believed to be gunshots in the Railway Trail/North Shore Road, Devonshire area. Officers attended the scene a short time later and made a thorough search of the vicinity – however, after completing the search and speaking with area residents, nothing was found to substantiate the gunshot reports. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Damage Only RTC - Around 8:35am today, Police received a report of a damage only road traffic collision at the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Paget involving a car and a Police motorcycle. It appears that the car was traveling east on Middle Road and the Police motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. Neither the driver of the car, a 22 year old Sandys parish woman, or the officer riding the Police motorcycle was injured. The car received front end damage while the Police motorcycle was not damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Industrial Accident

At 4:50pm today, Police received a report of an industrial accident at a Harvey Road, Paget warehouse. It appears that the victim, a 49 year old Smith’s parish man, was working in the warehouse when he fell approximately 6 feet. The Smith’s parish man sustained head injuries and was taken to KEMH where he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. The Government Health & Safety Officer was informed.

November 4 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 8:10am today, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near Five Star Island involving a tractor and a bus. It appears that both vehicles were traveling east on Middle Road when they collided. As a result the tractor collided with a nearby private residence. The driver of the tractor, a 75 year old Sandys parish man, sustained abrasions to his left hand, right knee and complained of soreness to his back. The driver of the bus, a 54 year old St. George’s man, was not injured. There were no passengers on the bus at the time.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Injury RTC - Around 1:15am today, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Somerset Road in Sandys parish, near Caesar’s Pharmacy. Details about what occurred are unclear; however the victim, a 31 year old Sandys parish man, was found with facial injuries. A motorcycle was located nearby. The Sandys parish man was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Disturbance - Around 2:10am today, Police attended a reported disturbance on Bermudiana Road in Pembroke, outside LV’s nightclub. Officers were at the scene speaking with a male regarding another matter when an unknown male started to scuffle with the aforementioned individual. As there was a crowd of Halloween revelers in the immediate vicinity, additional Police units were called to the scene. The situation was quickly brought under control and three individuals (two men and a woman) were arrested. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
