Reported Medical Emergency in Sandys Parish

Around 12:45am on Thursday, December 6th police and first responders attended a reported medical emergency outside Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. Details are unclear at this time; however a 29 year old Pembroke man was found lying injured on the ground outside the premises. He was treated at the scene by EMTs before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. At last check the Pembroke man was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Reported Serious Collision in Southampton - Around 7:45am on Wednesday, December 5th police and first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Tribe Road #2 involving a SUV and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the SUV was being driven along Middle Road and the auxiliary cycle was being ridden along the same road when the vehicles collided.

The auxiliary cycle rider, a 17 year old Sandys parish man, was apparently seriously injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in the Intensive Care Unit.

Robbery at Flatts Jewellery Store

Around 11am on Wednesday, December 5th police officers responded to a reported robbery at Link to Link on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that around 10:45am an unknown male entered the jewellery store brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The offender managed to take an undisclosed quantity of jewellery before making good his escape on the back of a motorcycle. There were no reported injuries.

Arrest on Suspicion of Impaired Driving - Around 6:45pm on Tuesday, December 4th police officers attended a reported two vehicle damage only collision on North Shore Road in Pembroke near the junction with Swansbay Hill. It appears that two cars were being driven along North Shore Road when they collided. As a result, both vehicles received extensive front end damage. Subsequently the driver of one of the cars, a 54 year old Devonshire man, was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. There were no reported injuries and inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

Court Appearances Anticipated After Drug Related Arrests - Seven men and one woman arrested for conspiracy to import a quantity of controlled drugs after a joint H.M. Customs and Bermuda Police Service enforcement operation at a Limehouse Lane, Hamilton parish residence during the early morning hours of Friday, November 30th 2012 have been released on police bail.

The suspects, apparently a 32 year old man, a 36 year old man, two 37 year old men, a 45 year old man, a 47 year old man, a 47 year old woman and a 71 year old man are expected to appear in court in due course.

Investigation Ongoing Into Sandys Parish Disturbance - The four teenaged suspects arrested in connection with a disturbance that occurred around 9:30pm Friday, November 30th on Butterfield Lane in Sandys parish have been released on police bail pending forensic examinations. The 17 and 18 year old Sandys parish men injured during the incident have since been discharged from the hospital. Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information regarding this matter is encouraged to contact Detective Constable Sylvester Augustine on 295-0011.

Arrests Made Following Disturbance in Sandys Parish - Around 9:30pm on Friday, November 30th police officers responded to a reported disturbance on Butterfield Lane in Sandys parish. It appears that a 17 year old Sandys parish man and an 18 year old Sandys parish man were outside a residence when a dispute occurred with other individuals in the area. As a result, both men were assaulted. The victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of their injuries, which are not considered to be life threatening.

Man Injured In Pembroke Shooting

Around 5pm on Saturday, December 1st police responded to a report of gunshots in the North Shore Road, Band Room Lane Pembroke area.

It appears that a man was on a motorcycle when two men on another motorcycle gave chase, shooting the victim at the junction.

The 20 year old Pembroke man attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injury, which is not believed to be life threatening.

Christmas Crime Prevention Advisory - As we enter the festive season, the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to be vigilant as they go about their shopping or other activities.

  • Residents are encouraged to always lock their doors and windows when leaving home, even for a few minutes. If leaving home for an extended period of time, ask a neighbour or family member to watch the house. Displays of holiday gifts should not be visible through windows or doors.

Two Vehicle Collision in Sandys Parish - Around 4:20pm on Tuesday, November 27th police and first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Elm Lane. It appears that an auxiliary cycle was being ridden along Middle Road and a car was exiting the parking lot of an area business when the vehicles collided. As a result the auxiliary cycle rider, a 21 year old Sandys parish woman, sustained a leg injury. There were no other injuries reported. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.
