The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 40 year old Kamilah Muhammad. Ms. Muhammad is described as approximately 5’2” tall, brown skinned of heavy build, weighing around 200 pounds, with red & black hair. She was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, white pants, a blue jacket and a navy coloured backpack around 6pm Sunday, September 25th.

Advisory: Scam E-mail - Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phishing e-mails and other scams that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.

Currently an e-mail is circulating, allegedly from the “London 2012 Olympic Organizing Committee." The e-mail claims that the recipient’s e-mail address was attached to a winning lottery ticket, resulting in a prize of £2 million. The e-mail states that in order to claim the money the recipient must disclose their personal information such as their name, occupation, home and e-mail addresses, telephone number and passport number.

Collision in Devonshire - Around 11:30am on Tuesday, police attended a reported traffic collision on South Road near the junction of Devon Spring Road in Devonshire between an SUV and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was travelling along South Road and the SUV was exiting a parking lot in the area when the vehicles collided. Both vehicles were damaged however, the rider of the motorcycle, a 20 year old man and the driver of the SUV, a 42 year old woman were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Anyone with any information with regard to this incident is encouraged to contact PC Melesia Iris on 295-0011.

Missing Juvenile Devonte' Simmons Located

The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 14 year old Devonte’ Simmons. He returned this evening and is safe and well. However, police are still appealing for anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of 15 year old Leshun Wolffe to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011.

Missing Juvenile: Devonte’ Simmons - The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 14 year old Devonte’ Simmons [pictured right]. The teenager is described as approximately 5’7” tall, brown skinned with a close haircut, weighing 130 pounds. He has both ears pierced and was last seen wearing blue jeans and black sneakers in the North Street, Pembroke area on Friday, September 23rd.

Single Vehicle Collision in Southampton - Around 2:40am on Sunday, police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Road. It appears that a car was traveling along Middle Road when it collided with a wall and overturned. The driver, a 24 year old Southampton man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Eastern CAT Assist With KBB Marine Clean-Up

Members of the Eastern Community Action Team took part in the annual Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB) Marine Clean-Up from 9am to 12 noon on Saturday, September 24th. The police officers joined with members of the public and Public Works personnel [click photo to enlarge] to clean up the Tobacco Bay, St. George’s area. Trash was recovered from the shoreline area and also along Coot Pond Road. More photos of the clean-up.

Sentencing of Antonio Myers

The Bermuda Police Service notes the sentence of the Supreme Court in the matter of R vs. Antonio Myers, for the murder of Mr. Kumi Harford.

The public will recall that Mr. Harford was targeted by gunmen as he sat in his car near his home on Mission Lane, Pembroke, on 5th December, 2009. 

Following a lengthy trial, Mr. Myers was found guilty of the murder of Mr. Harford and the use of a firearm in that murder.

Counterfeit Currency Advisory

The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit is continuing to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding counterfeit currency. The counterfeit Bermuda $100 notes [shown bottom right, click photo to enlarge] currently making the rounds are the older notes – not the new ones. Merchants are reminded to ensure their employees are aware of the importance of taking a few seconds to examine the money they are taking in, especially the larger denominations.
