Shooting in Warwick

Around 8:20pm on Monday, police received reports of a shooting on Middle Road in Warwick in the vicinity of Longford Road. Officers immediately attended the area and found a 21 year old man had been shot. The victim was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Collision in Southampton - At 7:35pm on Sunday October 23rd, police responded to a reported collision on Middle Road, Southampton at the junction of Industrial Park Road. It appears that four vehicles; a motorcycle, an SUV, a jeep and a car were travelling along Middle Road when they collided. The motorcycle was extensively damaged, while the other three vehicles received moderate damage. The rider of the motorcycle, a 44 year old Sandys man received a leg injury and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. His injuries are not life threatening.

Serious Collision in Devonshire

Around 12:25am on Sunday, police responded to a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Devon Heights Road. It appears that a rental cycle was traveling along South Road when it collided with a wall and a utility pole. The rental cycle was extensively damaged as a result.

The rider, a 27 year old American man, sustained serious head injuries and was treated by EMTs at the scene before being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical care. At last check the victim, a contract worker, was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Police Investigate Incident in Warwick Area - At 9:30pm on Wednesday October 19th police responded to an incident in the Spicery Road, Warwick area. Details are unclear at this time; however two 17 year old men were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of stab wounds. One of the victims was later released while the other remains in hospital. At last check he was in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition. Two men, a 35 year old and a 31 year old, have been arrested in connection with this incident. Officers conducted inquiries at the scene and collected forensic evidence for examination.

Review Team Lends Investigative Assistance to Unsolved Cases

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has formed a review team to help deal with serious crime investigations, having secured support and funding from the Ministry of National Security. The team of six is comprised of two recently retired BPS detectives and four retired detectives from the UK. The six officers bring a combined total of over 200 years of policing experience to the BPS. Mr. Carlton Adams, MBE, is well known to the local community having retired as an Assistant Commissioner in 2008 after a forty year career, mostly served in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Witness Appeal: Shayne Adderley Fatal Collision

Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the collision that claimed the life of 21 year old Shayne Adderley which occurred on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Camp Hill around 1:45am Saturday, October 8th when the motorcycle Mr. Adderley was riding collided with a taxi. The investigation into this matter is ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact PC Timothy Evelyn on 295-0011.

Local Businesses Advised To Be Vigilant For Counterfeit Currency

There continues to be a noticeable amount of counterfeit Bermuda currency currently in circulation, particularly $100 and $50 notes.

Local merchants in particular are once again reminded to ensure that their employees are aware of the importance of taking a few seconds to scrutinize the money they are taking in, especially the larger denominations. If counterfeit cash is detected during a transaction, staff receiving the fake money should hold on to it, note the description of the individual who tendered it and contact police immediately.

Collision in Pembroke - At 7:30am on Monday October 17th, police responded to a report of a collision on North Shore Road, Pembroke near West Pembroke School between two cars and a truck. It appears that the three vehicles were travelling along North Shore Road when they collided. The driver of one of the cars, a 34 year old Pembroke man and the driver of the truck, a 60 year old Pembroke man were conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life threatening. The other car driver, a 54 year old Pembroke woman was uninjured. All three vehicles were damaged. An investigation into this incident is underway.

Man Arrested Following Assault on Police

Around 9pm on Friday, October 14th police responded to a reported domestic incident at a St. Mary’s Road, Warwick residence. While at the scene, officers became aware that an outstanding warrant was in effect for one of the individuals involved, a 27 year old Warwick man. When the officers informed the Warwick man of the outstanding warrant and placed him under arrest, he fled on foot.
