The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 59 year old Jaha Mallory of Sandys parish who died after being involved in a road traffic collision that took place last Friday at 4:38pm. An autopsy will be conducted in the near future to determine the exact cause of Mr. Mallory's death. The Bermuda Police Service extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Mallory. Inquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to this collision or anyone who may have seen Mr. Mallory up to an hour before the time of the incident to contact PC James Eli at the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.
Near Drowning - At approximately 3:40pm on Sunday police and first responders were dispatched to Admiralty House Beach after receiving a report of a medical emergency involving a 3 year old child. It appears that the child was taken out of the water after almost drowning from swallowing sea water. The 3 year old boy was breathing however he was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment and presently is in the Intensive Care Unit where he is listed in stable condition.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the members of the public who performed CPR on the boy.
Marine Advisory: Boat Race - With the Round the Island boat race taking place this Sunday, the Marine Police would like to caution anyone who may be a participant or spectator of the event to act as safely as possible. If you plan to venture out on a boat, please make sure to have all necessary safety equipment and gear onboard your vessel. Be mindful of the 5-knot no wake zones, and also of swimmers who may be in the water. We also ask that spectators both on land and in the water keep a safe distance from the race course to avoid interfering with the race or being struck.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels addresses the media regarding classifying the disappearance of Mr. Rudolph Smith as a murder.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels - Today the Bermuda Police Service is taking an unfamiliar position of
officially classifying the disappearance of 41 year-old Pembroke man Mr. Rudy Lamar Smith as a murder.
Mr. Smith was last seen alive about 7pm on Monday 9th July 2012, walking in the area of One-Way Deepdale in Pembroke parish.
After not being seen or spoken to for a number of days, a missing persons report was made to police.
Officers immediately commenced investigations in an effort to trace Mr. Smith’s most recent movements with a view to locating him and establishing if he was in any harm or distress.
Serious Collision - Police responded to a report of a serious road traffic collision that took place on St. John's Road in Pembroke shortly before 8am this morning, involving a 39 year old Pembroke man and a 30 year old Warwick man. It appears that the two men were travelling along St. John's Road on their motorcycles when they somehow collided. As a result, both men were taken to the hospital. One of the men received minor injuries however the other is being treated for serious head injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact PC Robert Butterfield on 295-0011.
Burglary - Around 6:30am on Monday, police attended a report of a burglary at the Boaz Island Gas Station in Sandys. It appears that 2 suspects gained entry into the building and made a tidy search of the premises. At this time it is unknown what was removed from the premises. An investigation into this incident is underway and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information on this burglary to please contact the Western Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Beware of Counterfeit Currency - At 8am on Sunday a complainant attended the Hamilton Police Station and reported that whilst he was driving his taxi this morning, 3 passengers paid him with what he now knows is counterfeit currency. The serial numbers are the same ones that have been showing up in recent days. Inquiries into this incent are underway.
