Update: Man Arrested After Reported Burglary at Court Street Store - The suspect arrested in connection with this matter around 7pm Friday August 24th, a 29 year old Pembroke man, was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for his injuries and released. However he remains in police custody and inquiries are ongoing by the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.

Update: Two Men Rescued After Marine Incident

The 68 year old Pembroke man and 44 year old Pembroke man rescued by members of the public and police officers after their fishing boat capsized and sank off Devonshire Bay around 5:35pm Friday, August 24th have since been released from hospital.

Man Arrested After Reported Burglary at Court Street Store

A few minutes after 7:00pm today, police responded to a report of a burglary that took place at a business on Court Street. Police were in the area and saw the suspect.

A chase ensued and the suspect made his way to the corner of King and Dundonald Streets where he jumped on the roof of a nearby building. Police surrounded the building however the man jumped off the building, resulting in the man falling on his face.

A struggle commenced and the suspect was tasered by police.

Two Men Rescued After Marine Incident

At approximately 5:35pm today marine police were dispatched to a report of an 18 foot fishing boat that capsized just off Devonshire Bay. Two males aged 40 and 60 were assisted to the shore and both appear to be fine. In the abundance of caution both men were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injures. The fishing boat was severely damaged and has sunk.

Marine police are advising the maritime community to exercise caution when going out on the water as we are expecting very rough and unpredictable waters for the next few days.

Single Vehicle Collision in Devonshire - Around 4:15pm on Thursday, August 23rd police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Oleander Lane. It appears that a jeep was being driven along Middle Road when it collided with a roadside pillar. As a result the driver, a 71 year old Pembroke man, received an arm injury. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and further medical assessment.

Reported Incident at Hamilton Parish Sports Club - Around 8pm on Saturday, August 18th police officers attended a reported incident at a Hamilton parish sports club. It appears that an altercation took place between several men; however there were no reported injuries. Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.

Update: Sudden Death

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 23 year old Alexander Gosselin, a guest worker from Canada, who died after being found in a non-responsive state at a residence on Morgan’s Hill in Sandys at 12:26pm Friday afternoon.

It appears that a resident of the house entered and found Mr. Gosselin in a collapsed state in a room in the dwelling. An on call doctor attended the residence and pronounced him dead at 1:15pm Friday.

Foul play is not suspected and the Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Sudden Death

Police responded to a report of a non-responsive male found in a residence on Morgan's Hill in Sandys at 12:26pm this afternoon. It appears that a resident of the house entered and found a male in a collapsed state. An on call doctor attended the residence and pronounced the man dead at 1:15pm. An investigation into the matter has commenced and foul play has not been ruled out.

The investigation is being led by Acting Inspector Berry from Somerest Police Station. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to call 234-1010. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Counterfeit Currency - Around 1:40pm yesterday, police responded to an incident of counterfeit currency at the 24 hour Esso Tigermarket. An individual attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill with the serial number D/I 019625. With an increase in the circulation of counterfeit currency recently, police would like to remind the public that it is a criminal offence to pass to another, possess, make or reproduce any counterfeit currency, punishable by up to five years in prison. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone with any information about incidents where counterfeit currency is being circulated is encouraged to contact the Financial Crime Unit on 295-0011.

Road Traffic Collision - Police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision that happened this morning around 2:30am on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction of Radnor Road. It appears that a female car driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn and hit a utility pole. The driver sustained minor injuries and electricity was being restored to all affected residents. Police are appealing for any witnesses of this collision to contact 295-0011.
