The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Most of the vehicles removed were either auxiliary cycles or motorcycles, with 1 car also reported stolen during the period. Of the 17 vehicles reported stolen, 6 were subsequently recovered, including the car.
Witness Appeal - Fatal RTC
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision which occurred on Pender Road in Sandys parish around 1:50pm Tuesday, November 17th claiming the life of 33 year old visitor Bethany Heinrichs of Baltimore, Maryland U.S.A. We are particularly interested in speaking with the driver of a taxi, believed to be white in colour, which was traveling west on Pender Road (into Dockyard) around the time of the collision. The taxi driver or anyone who may have seen a white coloured taxi traveling west on Pender Road around 1:50pm last Tuesday is encouraged to contact PC Lesa Stovell at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.
Attempted Robbery
At 6:05pm on Monday, Police received a report of an attempted robbery on Wesley Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that the victim, a 16 year old young man from St. George’s, was walking along Wesley Street when he was approached from behind by two unknown young men. The men demanded money, with one of them punching the victim in the jaw. The suspects then made good their escape on foot empty handed along Wesley Street and on to Park Road. The teenager was taken to KEMH for treatment. The suspects are described as a dark skinned male of slim build with shoulder length dreadlocks wearing a black jacket with yellow stripes and a light skinned male of slim build with short hair. Both were approximately 5’5” tall and appeared to be in their late teens. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
Injury RTC
Around 12:50pm on Monday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Crow Lane in Pembroke involving an auxiliary cycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the auxiliary cycle was traveling west on Crow Lane in the vicinity of ‘Great Things’ when two pedestrians attempted to cross the road. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16 year old young woman from Paget, attempted to stop in time but was unable to and collided with one of the pedestrians. The rider of the auxiliary cycle sustained facial injuries while the pedestrian, a 43 year old Smith’s parish man, sustained head injuries as well as abrasions to his hands and knees. The auxiliary cycle received moderate damage. There is no pedestrian crossing at that location. It is believed both injured individuals were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
