August 5 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 11:15am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on South Road in Warwick near the junction with Dunscombe Road involving a motorcycle and a Regiment vehicle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling west on South Road and the Regiment truck was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 36 year old Pembroke man, sustained facial injuries as well as injuries to his arms. The driver of the Regiment vehicle, a 31 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured.

Shooting At Tribe Road #5 Paget

Around 3:20pm today, Police received a report of a shooting in the area of Tribe Road #5 and Ord Road in Paget. The victim, a 19 year old Paget man, was injured and taken to KEMH for treatment of gunshot wounds to his lower body. The extent of his injuries is unknown. Police are conducting inquiries in the Southampton & Somerset areas as well as stop & searches of vehicles in those areas for suspects in connection with this incident. Inquiries are ongoing.

August 4 - Weekly Review

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Industrial Accident

Around 1:45pm today, Police attended a reported industrial accident at The Newstead Hotel on Harbour Road in Paget. It appears that an employee of the hotel was sitting on a wall on the property when he fell approximately 25 feet into a ditch.

August 3 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 9am on Sunday, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Store Hill. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on North Shore Road when the rider, a 32 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a bus stop pole. He sustained neck injuries as well as lacerations to both knees and elbows. The Pembroke man was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and has since been flown overseas for further medical treatment. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Press Conference – Update Re: Incident At SGCC

About 8.13pm on Friday 31st July 2009, Police responded to a report of males fighting on the grounds of St. George’s Cricket Club. Initial Police investigations indicate that the fighting started after two male patrons were involved in a heated dispute in the main bar of the St. George’s Cricket Club, after the conclusion of the Cup Match.

August 2 - Weekend Report

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 33 year old James Quinn of Warwick (Irish national). Around 1:50am on Saturday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision near the junction of Crow Lane and Corkscrew Hill in Paget. It appears that Mr. Quinn was riding a motorcycle traveling east on Crow Lane when he lost control and collided with a traffic light pole. He sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 2:13am by an on call physician. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.

Road Traffic Fatality & Disturbance at SGCC

Fatal RTC - Police responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision that took place around 1:48am this morning in the area of Crow Lane and Corkscrew Hill. The 33 year old man was taken to KEMH where he was pronounced dead. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

July 29 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 5pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton, near the junction with Church Road involving a car and a bus. It appears that the bus was traveling east on Middle Road and the car was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The driver of the car, an 82 year old Southampton woman, sustained abrasions to her right elbow. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance, treated and released. The driver of the bus, a 52 year old St. George’s man, was not injured. The car received extensive front end damage while the bus received moderate front end damage.

Cup Match Press Conference

Chief Inspector Tracy Adams - The Cup Match period is one of the busiest policing periods in Bermuda. This year Cup Match is being held at the St. George’s Cricket Club. The Bermuda Police Service has prepared a contingency plan to ensure that the Cup Match period is safe for all residents and visitors alike.

We are advising the public that there will be a very heavy Police presence on the streets, waters and at the game.
