Counterfeit Currency - Around 1:40pm yesterday, police responded to an incident of counterfeit currency at the 24 hour Esso Tigermarket. An individual attempted to use a counterfeit $100 bill with the serial number D/I 019625. With an increase in the circulation of counterfeit currency recently, police would like to remind the public that it is a criminal offence to pass to another, possess, make or reproduce any counterfeit currency, punishable by up to five years in prison. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing and anyone with any information about incidents where counterfeit currency is being circulated is encouraged to contact the Financial Crime Unit on 295-0011.

Disturbance

Police responded to a report of a disturbance outside of the post office on Parliament Street in Hamilton yesterday afternoon at around 5:15pm. It appears that 2 females were involved in a confrontation which escalated to a physical altercation that was diffused by officers. This resulted in both individuals being taken to Hamilton Police Station and later released. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
