Firearm Incident - Around 10:45pm on Thursday, Police received a report of gunshots in the Long Bay Lane/Daniel's Head, Sandys parish area. Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the vicinity. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen any suspicious individuals or activity in this area to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Burglary & Fire at Kiddie Academy

Around 7:30am today, Police received a report of a burglary & fire at Kiddie Academy on Laffan Street in Pembroke. It appears that sometime overnight an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the premises. A teacher entered the building Thursday morning to discover the main office ablaze as well as several items out of place. She then alerted the Police and the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service.

Damage Only RTC - Around 9:35 this morning, Police received a report of a single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Paynters Road involving a Police vehicle. It appears that a marked Police car was traveling along Harrington Sound Road when the driver lost control and collided with a tree stump resulting in front end damage to the vehicle. The officer driving the Police car at the time was not injured.

Burglary - Around 5:15pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cemetery Lane, Pembroke residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 8:20am and 5pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

As previously reported, about 1:35am Sunday, Police officers responded to a report of a man having been shot and injured at a residence on Hinson Lane, in Smith’s parish.

Around 1:35 this morning, Police responded to a report of a shooting at a Hinson Lane, Smith’s parish residence. It appears that two unknown men gained entry into a home and demanded money. This resulted in a 62 year old Smith’s parish man being shot. He was rushed to KEMH via ambulance where he is currently listed in critical condition. An investigation into this incident is underway by the Serious Crime Unit. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Hinson Lane/Kilderry Estate area to contact 295-0011 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

September 4 - Daily Report

Burglary - Around 7:45am today, Police received a report of a burglary on Hinson’s Island. The complainant stated that sometime between 8pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday, an unknown culprit or culprits gained entry into the home. The culprit(s) stole a silver Mac laptop computer, a 52” Samsung flat screen TV and a Dish Network satellite receiver. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 26 year old Pedro Rodrigues of Hamilton parish. Mr. Rodrigues, originally from the Azores, worked for a local landscaping company and was found in an unresponsive state by co-workers at a Town Hill Road, Smith’s parish residence around 9am Wednesday. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician. Inquiries are ongoing; however foul play is not suspected. It is anticipated that an autopsy will be performed in due course. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
