Disturbance - Around 2:30am on Saturday, Police received a report of a disturbance at The Bistro at The Beach on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that as several male patrons were leaving the premises, a physical altercation took place between some of them. Officers attended the area and used the deterrent spray ‘Captor’ in an attempt to subdue those involved; however, the men quickly left the scene. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone with any information to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Shooting at Ice Queen

Around 3:50am today, Police received a report of a confirmed firearm incident in the vicinity of Ice Queen in Paget. The victim, a 22 year old Warwick man, was taken to KEMH for treatment of a gunshot wound to his torso. His injury is not believed to be life threatening at this time. The male suspect is described as 5’8” to 6’ tall of slim build. He made good his escape on a motorcycle heading towards the City of Hamilton. Detectives have spoken to a number of witnesses who have given accounts of what happened. However, investigators still need to speak with anyone who has not yet spoken to the Police.

BHB Investigation

Three individuals (a 55 year old Paget man, a 43 year old Paget man and a 39 year old Pembroke man) have been arrested in relation to a complaint made by the Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB).

All three individuals have now been released on Police bail. The BHB’s complaint is the subject of an ongoing investigation and therefore no further information will be released at this time.

May 7 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 8pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Pembroke near the junction with Spanish Point Road involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on North Shore Road when they collided. As a result the motorcycle rider, a 22 year old Devonshire woman, was injured. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment of her injuries, which appeared to be relatively minor. The driver of the car, a 32 year old Pembroke woman, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Arrest & Taser Incident

Around 11am on Monday May 3rd 2010, police officers on Par-La-Ville Road in Pembroke encountered a 53 year old Hamilton parish man whom the officers had occasion to arrest in connection with an outstanding warrant. As they attempted to do so, the man attacked the officers and a violent struggle took place. One officer received minor injuries during the fight at which time he drew his Taser device from its holster and pointed it at the man. The man promptly complied with the directions of the officers and he was safely arrested.

Murder of George Lynch

Acting Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Division - The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that the victim of last night’s shooting is 40 year old Hamilton Parish resident - Mr. George Lynch.

Our sincere sympathies go out to the wife and family of Mr. Lynch, a Jamaican national who had come to work in Bermuda at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Burglary - Around 8:15am today, Police received a report of a burglary at Smatt’s Cycle Livery Ltd. in Southampton. It appears that sometime overnight an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Fatal Shooting in Hamilton Parish

Around 10:30pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a confirmed firearm incident in the Midland Heights Crescent, Hamilton parish area. Details about what occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that a 40 year old Hamilton parish man was fatally shot outside a residence in the area. He was subsequently pronounced dead. No further information will be released until the deceased’s next of kin has been notified. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Armed Robbery in Sandys Parish

Around 8:55pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a robbery at the Boaz Island Shell gas station in Sandys parish. Details about what occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that two unknown men entered the gas station, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm and the other brandishing a bladed article. They stole a quantity of cash before making good their escape. There were no reported injuries.

May 5 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 1pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Front Street and Parliament Street in the City of Hamilton involving a taxi and a pedestrian. It appears that the pedestrian, a 59 year old Warwick woman, was walking across the pedestrian crossing at the junction and the taxi was turning from Front Street on to Parliament Street when the collision occurred. The Warwick woman sustained bruising and pain to her body. She was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment and later released. The driver, a 52 year old St. George’s man, was not injured and the taxi was not damaged.
