July 7 - Daily Report

Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving - At 3:15am today, Police attended a reported damage only road traffic collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass involving a car and a taxi. It appears that the car was traveling east on Middle Road and the taxi was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The driver of the car, a 22 year old Paget man and the driver of the taxi, a 48 year old Warwick man were not injured. The driver of the car was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Both the car and the taxi received extensive damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys Parish

At 9:40pm today, Police responded to reports of gun shots being fired in the area of White Hill and George's Bay Road in Sandys parish. Police canvassed the area and ascertained that it was indeed a confirmed firearm incident. At this juncture we can report that no one has been shot, after canvassing the area and checking with the hospital. There is a strong Police presence in the area and an investigation into this incident is underway.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Injury RTC - Around 1:50pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Tee Street in Devonshire involving two cars. It appears that one car was traveling west on Middle Road and the other car was traveling north on Tee Street when the vehicles collided at the junction. The driver of the northbound car, a 23 year old Warwick man, was not injured; however the driver of the westbound car, a 62 year old Warwick man, suffered chest pain. Both cars received moderate front end damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

July 4 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC - At 4:45pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a car was traveling west on Reid Street when the driver, a 61 year old Pembroke woman, lost control and collided with a parked car. The parked car then collided with a tree. The Pembroke woman sustained injuries to her right hand as a result and her car received extensive front end damage. The parked car, unoccupied at the time, was extensively damaged.

Around 12:25pm today, Police & first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and East Point Lane in Hamilton parish involving three vehicles; a truck, a car and a motorcycle. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however the motorcyclist, a 19 year old Devonshire woman, received injuries to her legs as a result. She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. It appears that some of the vehicles involved were extensively damaged. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately two hours before the road was re-opened.

Injury RTC - Around 6:05am today, Police & first responders attended a reported serious road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Dudley Hill in Paget involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that the car was traveling west on Middle Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided as the car attempted to turn on to Dudley Hill. The rider of the motorcycle, a 32 year old Sandys parish man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Sudden Death

Around 9pm today (Thursday), Police received a report of a body floating in the waters of Hamilton harbour (in the vicinity of 'Paradise Lakes'). The deceased is apparently a male in his 50s. Inquiries into this incident are underway. No further information will be released until the next of kin has been notified.

Appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police

Burglary - Police responded to a burglary that took place at a residence on Slip Point Lane in St. George’s at 11:40am today.  It appears that three men gained entry into a dwelling on that said road and brandished what appeared to be a firearm. The men made demands of money before leaving the property on foot. No one was injured. The scene was cordoned off and a thorough search of the vicinity was conducted. An active investigation into this incident is underway.
