Recovered Vehicle - At 9:05am today, Police attended the Botanical Gardens where they located a red Toyota Yaris license #00682 in a parking lot at the premises after receiving information from a member of the public. The car had been reported removed from Jennings Bay Road in Southampton sometime between 10pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday. The vehicle was impounded by Police and inquiries are ongoing.
Damage Only RTC - At 5:10pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harrington Sound Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that a truck was traveling west on Harrington Sound Road when it collided with the Manor House Bridge. As a result both the bridge and truck were damaged; however the truck driver, a 51 year old Warwick man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Injury RTC - At 8:35pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Princess Estate Road in Pembroke involving two cars and a motorcycle. It appears that traffic traveling west and east on North Shore Road had stopped to allow a car to exit Princess Estate Road. However, as the car exited Princess Estate Road a motorcycle was traveling west on North Shore Road and a collision occurred. The rider of the motorcycle, a 34 year old Pembroke man, sustained head and facial injuries as well as bruising to his right shoulder and leg.
Confirmed Firearm Incident in Devonshire - Both the 16 year old Pembroke man and the 22 year old Pembroke man injured in the shooting around 10:50pm on Wednesday in the Friswells Road/Middle Terrace, Devonshire area remain in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital recovering. They are both in stable condition on a general ward. Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 299-8106 or the independent, confidential 24 hour Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline on 800-8477.
Police responded to reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Friswells Hill and Middle Terrace in Devonshire at 10:48pm Wednesday. Upon Police arrival it was ascertained that two men, a 16 year old Pembroke man and a 22 year old Pembroke man, were shot. Both men were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Officers from various units are on scene and an investigation into the matter has commenced.
Injury RTC - Around 9am today, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Loyal Hill Pass involving a pedestrian and a motorcycle. It appears that the pedestrian, a 32 year old St. George’s woman, had exited a bus in the area. As she attempted to cross the road, a motorcycle traveling east on North Shore Road collided with her. The pedestrian apparently sustained minor injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The rider of the motorcycle, a 49 year old Devonshire man, sustained cuts to his left leg & left arm.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer In Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are continuing their enquiries into the brutal murder of Mr. Freddy Maybury at Woody’s Drive Inn on Monday 14th June, 2010. The two men arrested initially following the incident have been released on Police bail.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or persons with information to come forward and provide any helpful information. The enquiry has entered its second full day. Detectives have conducted witness interviews, house to house enquiries and seized evidence from the scene, including CCTV from nearby locations and Woody’s itself. This evidence is being reviewed, and where appropriate evidence will be sent overseas for processing.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Wright - On behalf of the Commissioner of Police and members of the Bermuda Police Service I express condolences to the family and friends of Frederick Maybury.
The murder of Mr. Maybury represents the 6th death caused by gunfire in Bermuda this year (2010), while an additional 12 persons have been injured. (2009 = 4 people killed by gunfire & 13 people injured).
I acknowledge and share the concern felt throughout our community about the current frequency of gun crime. The top priority of the Bermuda Police Service is ‘Making Bermuda Safer’ and I know the community is well informed on the seriousness of the current crime problems and strongly supports the role that the men and women of the Bermuda Police Service are performing.
