Update: Injury RTC - Around 6:25pm on Sunday, Police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling west on North Shore Road when the rider, an 18 year old Pembroke man, lost control and collided with a wall. He apparently sustained a head injury and abrasions to the body which are not believed to be life threatening. The Pembroke man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries. The motorcycle received relatively minor damage.

Injury RTC - Around 6:25pm today, Police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that the rider of the motorcycle involved, an 18 year old Pembroke man, sustained a head injury. The motorcycle received relatively minor damage. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately an hour. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.

Update - Confirmed Firearm Incident in Sandys Parish

From Assistant Commissioner of Police David Mirfield - Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a confirmed firearm incident that took place around 5:10pm on Friday, near the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish. The victim, a 44 year old Sandys parish man, remains in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and at last check was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident, particularly:

Around 5:10pm today, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident near the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road in Sandys parish. Details are unclear at this time; however the victim, a 44 year old Sandys parish man, was shot and injured. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Search Continues for Escaped Prisoner Alvone Maybury

Around 4pm today, Police attended a residence on The Glebe Road in Pembroke as they continued their search for Alvone Maybury. Officers canvassed the area with negative results. Police continue to follow all leads and are reminding the public that providing shelter and resources to Maybury is a crime punishable under the law.

Injury RTC - At 7:20am on Thursday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Pembroke involving a water truck and a motorcycle. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however the rider of the motorcycle, a 26 year old Warwick man, sustained facial injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The water truck driver, a 27 year old Southampton man, was not injured. The motorcycle was extensively damaged while the water truck received minor damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

July 22 - Daily Report

Burglary - Around 7:30pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cavendish Road, Pembroke residence. It appears that sometime between 8:20am and 7pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a watch and a black Motorola cellular phone. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

2nd Quarter 2010 Crime Statistics

Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - There were 1,067 offences in Q2 2010 making it the 2nd lowest quarterly crime figure since Q1 2000. It is also so exceptionally low that it is statistically significant in comparison to the previous 5 and the 10 year period. The high levels of Crimes Against The Person continue to be of concern, particularly the 4 murders in Q2 2010. Firearms incidents are also at an all time high. Police activity including arrests, calls for service, stop and searches and drug arrests on the street are at all time highs, suggesting that a focus on proactive policing and a reorganisation of the BPS to ensure maximum numbers of officers on the streets is delivering results.

Injury RTC - Around 8:25am today, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Road involving a taxi and a motorcycle. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however the rider of the motorcycle, a 48 year old Warwick man, sustained leg & arm injuries, as well as abrasions to his forehead. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the taxi, a 76 year old Sandys parish man, was not injured. The taxi received moderate front end damage while the motorcycle was extensively damaged.

Serious Injury RTC

Around 5:55pm today, Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on Parsons Road in Pembroke near the junction with Field View Lane involving a car and a motorcycle. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however the rider of the motorcycle, a 28 year old St. George’s man, sustained serious head injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and at last check was in critical condition. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately two hours following the collision. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
