Update: House Fire - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 67 year old Gordon Howard of Warwick. Mr. Howard was pronounced dead at 2:09am on Wednesday by a doctor at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Howard. The investigation into the cause of the fire at his Fairways Road, Warwick residence is ongoing.
House Fire - Around 1:30am on Wednesday, Police received a report of a fire at a Fairways Road, Warwick residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as Police officers promptly attended the scene and found the home ablaze. The victim, a 67 year old Warwick man, was extricated from the home by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel in an unresponsive state. He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but was subsequently pronounced dead. No further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Unit - The Bermuda Police Service can
now confirm the death of 47 year old Raymond Troy Rawlins, a well known figure in the Court Street area. An initial account of the incident is that two men pulled up outside The Spinning Wheel nightclub in a light green car and ran across Court Street into Spinning Wheel, right behind Mr. Rawlins who had just entered the club.
Burglary - Around 12 noon on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Highwood Lane, Paget residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 7pm on Friday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 8:40pm on Friday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Fiddlewood Drive, Warwick residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 4pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a quantity of cash. Around 12:30am on Monday, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident at The Spinning Wheel nightclub on Court Street in Pembroke. The victim, a 47 year old Pembroke man, was shot multiple times inside the club. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. No further information will be given until next of kin have been notified. The Bermuda Police Service extends condolences to the family & friends of the deceased.
There were people in The Spinning Wheel nightclub at the time of the incident and some of those individuals have come forward to assist officers with their inquiries.
Around 12:05am on Monday, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident at the Mid-Atlantic Boat Club on North Shore Road in Devonshire. A 21 year old Pembroke man was injured and attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The scene has been cordoned off and is being forensically examined for evidence.

Injury RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 8pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Quarry Road involving a truck and a motorcycle. It appears that the truck was traveling west on Harrington Sound Road and the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The motorcycle rider, a 38 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained a broken right leg. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
Around 10:40pm on Friday, Police responded to a reported firearm incident in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area. Officers attended the scene and spoke with area residents; however at that time nothing was found to substantiate the report. Inquiries at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital revealed that no one has been admitted with gunshot wounds. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing. Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 62 year old David Hayward of Pembroke. He was pronounced dead at 2:12pm on Thursday August 5th by a doctor at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following a medical emergency at his home. An autopsy will be performed on the deceased in the near future. Foul play is not suspected at this time; however inquiries are being conducted into the circumstances surrounding his death. The Bermuda Police Service would like to extend condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Hayward.
