Ten new Police recruits are currently on Recruit Foundation Course (RFC) #73, a 25 week training course which started on Monday, August 30th 2010. They are:
At 4:55pm on Monday, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Middle Road and Montpelier Road in Devonshire involving a bus and a rental cycle. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however, both individuals on the rental cycle sustained injuries to their lower body. They were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of their injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
Injury RTC - Around 3:15pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Store Hill involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that both vehicles were traveling east on North Shore Road, with the car in front of the motorcycle. As the car attempted to turn on to Store Hill the collision occurred. The rider of the motorcycle, a 20 year old Devonshire man, sustained abrasions to his left hand and pain to his ribs. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 49 year old Devonshire woman, was not injured.
Burglary - Around 12:50am on Saturday, Police received a report of a burglary at Tools & Equipment on North Street in Pembroke. It appears that around 12:45am that day an unknown culprit gained entry into the premises and was confronted by the victim, a 64 year old Paget man, who was working late inside the store. Apparently the intruder attacked the Paget man with an object before escaping. Nothing appears to have been taken from the store. The victim was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of serious head injuries.
Update: Sudden Death - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 75 year old Calvin Hansey Sr. of Pembroke. Mr. Hansey’s lifeless body was found at a Field View Lane, Pembroke property on Wednesday. An autopsy has been conducted; however the cause of death is undetermined at this time. The Bermuda Police Service extends sincere condolences to the family & friends of Mr. Hansey.

will take place on Saturday 2nd October 2010 at Police Field in Prospect, Devonshire between 10am and 5:30pm.
Robbery - Around 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a robbery on South Road in Southampton, near the junction with Lighthouse Road. It appears that the victim, a 29 year old Sandys parish woman, was at a bus stop when she was accosted by an unknown man who demanded her purse. The suspect managed to take the purse and fled the scene on foot before riding away on a motorcycle in a westerly direction. The Sandys parish woman was not injured. The green purse has green embroidered flowers on it and contained a quantity of cash as well as personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
A few minutes after 12:30pm on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Field View Lane in Pembroke. It appears that a member of the community came upon a man’s lifeless body in an area outside of a house on that said road. Police are going through the process of identifying the body and as such no further information will be given until the next of kin have been notified.
Advisory: Burglaries - The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. All residents should make sure windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or individuals in their neighbourhoods to Police on 295-0011.

Desilva was in attendance as well as other members of the Bermuda Police Service family, the Bermuda Long Riders Motorcycle Club and members of the public. The event is held each year to show support for the families and friends of the four lives tragically lost.
