September 29 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 5:15pm on Tuesday, Police responded to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on St. David’s Road in St. George’s involving a Police car. Two officers in the vehicle at the time were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment; however their injuries were minor and they were subsequently released. The Police car was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

During this year’s Police Week activities, the Bermuda Police Service is reviving the annual Police Pedal Cycle Gymkhana, one of the most popular community events ever organized by the Police, much to the delight of the person who originally conceived the idea way back in the 1960’s, former police constable Ray Sousa.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Burglary - Around 8:10am on Monday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Mary Victoria Road, Devonshire residence. It appears that sometime between 10:30pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday an unknown culprit gained entry into the home. The culprit stole a quantity of jewelry. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 10:45am on Sunday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Cedar Hill, Warwick residence. It appears that sometime between 8am and 7pm on Friday, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a Nintendo Wii video game system and an Olympus digital camera. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

September 26 - Weekend Report

Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving - Around 5:15am on Saturday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke near the junction with Turnstile Lane. It appears that a car was traveling along Pitts Bay Road when it collided with a wall. The driver, a 30 year old Pembroke man, was not injured; however he was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. The car received extensive front end damage and the wall was also damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police Week 2010: Ex/Former Police Officers Memorial - On Friday, October 8th 2010 at 4pm a Police Memorial will take place at the Police Military Cemetery on Alexandra Road in Devonshire. This is an opportunity to honour any Police officers who have died.

Confirmed Firearm Incident in the St. Monica’s Road Area

Around 5:30pm on Thursday, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident that took place in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. A 29 year old man was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. His injuries are believed to be serious.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011. Alternatively, witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to call the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline at 800-8477.

Confirmed & Reported Firearm Incident in Pembroke

Around 11:30am on Thursday, Police responded to a confirmed firearm incident that took place on North Shore Road in the area of First Church of God in Pembroke. It appears that individuals on a motorcycle shot at a car; however, no one was injured.

There was also a reported firearm incident that took place on Court Street in Pembroke around 11:40am Thursday. It appears that men on a motorcycle brandished what is believed to be a firearm; however again, no one was injured.

Burglary - Around 8:50pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a North Terrace, Devonshire residence. It appears that sometime between 7:30am and 7pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into the home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a BlackBerry cellular phone. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
