Update: Injury RTC at Court Street & Dundonald Street - Around 4pm on Monday, Police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of Court Street and Dundonald Street in Pembroke involving a motorcycle and a truck. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along Dundonald Street when they collided at the junction. The rider of the motorcycle, a 27 year old Southampton man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are relatively minor. The truck driver, a 59 year old Warwick man, was not injured.

Three Men Arrested On Suspicion of Drug Importation

Around 4:00p.m. on Wednesday 1st June, 2011 a combined H.M. Customs and Bermuda Police Service team arrested three men in the Shelly Bay, Hamilton Parish area for offences relating to the importation of a significant quantity of controlled drugs.

The arrests were the result of a prolonged investigative effort with partner agencies in the United States. At the time of the arrests, a number of evidential items were seized, including a substantial sum of cash.

Advisory: Counterfeit Cashier’s Cheques & Travellers’ Cheques

The Bermuda Police Service Financial Crime Unit has noticed an increase in counterfeit cashier’s cheques and travellers’ cheques locally. The typical fake cashier’s cheque appears to be mailed from the U.K. and claims to be worth $2,750. [Example shown here].

‘Prolific’ Burglar Receives Three Year Prison Sentence - A 49 year old man with a criminal history was sentenced to three years imprisonment by Magistrate Archibald Warner after pleading guilty to a recent Paget burglary in Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Dean O’Brien admitted to unlawfully entering the home and stealing money on Thursday, May 26th; however police officers arrested him a short time later. In addition to the three year prison term, Magistrate Warner stipulated that O’Brien will also serve two years of probation.

Injury RTC on Pitts Bay Road - Around 5:30pm on Monday, Police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke near the junction with Rosemont Avenue. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that a rental cycle was traveling along Pitts Bay Road when it collided with a wall. Apparently the two individuals on the rental cycle sustained minor injuries. Inquiries are underway.

Damage Only RTC in Southampton - Around 7:45am on Monday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on South Road in Southampton in the vicinity of the Fairmont Southampton Resort. It appears that a SUV was traveling along South Road when the vehicle went over an embankment. The driver of the vehicle, a 39 year old Sandys parish woman and her passengers, a 9 year old girl and a 4 year old boy, were not injured. The extent of damage to the vehicle is unknown at this time.

Update: Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Assault - The 29 year old man arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on Saturday, May 28th remains in custody in connection with both incidents reported Saturday morning; the first occurring in the Paynters Road, Walsingham Lane, Harrington Sound Road Hamilton parish area at 8:25am and the second in the South Road, Watch Hill Park Smith's parish area around 9am.

Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexual Assault

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm that at 8.25am today, Saturday May 28th 2011 a female reported that while jogging in the area of Paynters Road and Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton Parish she was accosted by a man on a motorcycle. A struggle ensued but she was able to escape and continued jogging east along Harrington Sound Road. On reaching the area near the Walsingham Lane and Harrington Sound Road a short time later, the same male accosted the female jogger again; however this time she received assistance from a passing motorist. The suspect escaped, but a full description of him and the motorcycle he was riding was circulated to all police patrols.

Injury RTC in Sandys Parish - Around 2:15pm on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Bob’s Valley Lane in Sandys parish near the junction with Bluebell Lane involving two motorcycles. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along Bob’s Valley Lane when they collided. The riders of the motorcycles, a 19 year old Sandys parish woman and a 49 year old Warwick woman were both injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police Shoot Dog Set Upon Animal Warden

Acting Chief Inspector Calvin Smith - Around 12.30pm today, Friday May 27, 2011 police officers and Government Animal Wardens attended a report of dog cruelty in the area of Court and Elliot Streets, Pembroke.

The owner of the dog was located but a confrontation and a foot chase quickly ensued.

The dog was set upon the warden who was attacked violently and a passerby was also attacked in the process.
