Motorcycle & Truck Collide Near Paget Traffic Lights

Around 3pm on Friday, November 25th police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury near the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Paget involving a motorcycle and a truck. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along South Road when they collided in the vicinity of the Paget traffic lights. The rider of the motorcycle, a 21 year old Warwick man, sustained arm and leg injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening. The driver of the truck, a 52 year old Devonshire man, was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Willful Damage - Around 7:45pm on Thursday November 24th, police responded to a report of willful damage in the Kings Square, St. George’s area. On arrival, officers observed a number of broken ceramic plant pots, including four plants not in plant pots. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, who rode away from the scene on a bicycle. A search of the surrounding area was conducted, but the suspect was not located. Any witnesses or anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Southside Police Station on 293-2222.

Update: Bus Collides With Utility Pole, No Injuries Reported

Around 3:30pm Thursday, November 24th police responded to a report of a single vehicle damage only collision on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Cable Hill involving a bus and a utility pole. There were no reported injuries. Traffic was diverted at the junction of North Shore Road and Barkers Hill, Devonshire as well as the junction of North Shore Road and Store Hill, Smith’s parish as a result. That section of road was subsequently re-opened. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

Traffic is being diverted at the junction of North Shore Road and Barkers Hill, Devonshire as well as the junction of North Shore Road and Store Hill, Smith’s parish as a result. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Update: Serious Collision in Southampton - At 7:20am on Thursday November 24th, police and first responders attended a report of a serious collision on Middle Road, Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island involving a motorcycle and a bus. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along Middle Road when they collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 41 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained head injuries and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. At last check, he was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. No one else was reported injured.

Serious Collision in Southampton

Around 7:15am Thursday, November 24th police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on Middle Road in Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island involving a motorcycle and a bus. The motorcycle rider sustained a head injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. Traffic was diverted away from the area while collision investigators examined the scene; however that section of road is now open and traffic is flowing normally. Inquiries are ongoing.

Firearm Seized, American Man Arrested At Bermuda Airport

On Tuesday, November 22nd an American citizen was arrested at the L. F. Wade International Airport for firearm possession. He remains in police custody pending the review of a file by the DPP. At this time the Bermuda Police Service is not releasing any additional information.

BPS Host Strategic Firearms Commander Course

Department of Communication & Information - The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is currently delivering a Strategic Firearms Commander (Gold) Course at the Police Training Centre, Prospect. The course, which is running from 21-25 November 2011, is designed primarily to meet the needs of officers of Chief Inspector rank and above whose current roles and responsibilities include strategic command and management of spontaneous firearms incidents and authorized firearms operations.

Drugs & Prohibited Weapons Seized, Men Arrested in Southampton

On Saturday, 19th November, 2011 officers representing various departments and units of the Bermuda Police Service including the Public Protection Department, Serious Crime and Drug Units combined to execute a warrant at a residence on Middle Road, Southampton.

This warrant resulted in the seizure of prohibited weapons, a large quantity of the controlled drug cannabis as well as cocaine and cannabis resin prepared for distribution. A significant quantity of cash in various currencies was additionally seized and is currently being held under the provisions of Section 50 of the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Two Arrests After Happy Valley Road Attempted Burglary

About 11.45am Tuesday, November 22nd police received a report of three men attempting to break and enter a residence located on Happy Valley Road in Pembroke Parish. On arrival at the scene police officers received information that the men were armed with what appeared to be a firearm and one of the suspects threatened persons in the area by pointing the weapon.

No entry was gained inside the residence.
