Update – Jason Smith Murder Investigation

The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with any information regarding the murder of 22 year old Jason Smith, which occurred around 3:50am Sunday, May 1st 2011 in the Overview Hill, Pembroke area.

In particular detectives are interested in speaking with any persons that saw or may have information about a suspicious vehicle, person(s) or activity in the area of Overview Hill, Vaucrossons Crescent and Mount Hill between the hours of 2am and 5am on Sunday, May 1st 2011.

Medical Emergency

Around 11am on Tuesday, Police responded to a reported medical emergency at a St. George’s boatyard. It appears that the victim, a 75 year old Hamilton parish man, was cleaning a boat on dry dock when he fell, sustaining a head injury. The Hamilton parish man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Weekend Police Activity - Over the weekend there were 7 people arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. Police officers also arrested 30 people for outstanding warrants and conducted 10 liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.

Following the Magistrates’ Court appearance on Friday, May 6th 2011 by two former employees of Works & Engineering the Bermuda Police Service wishes to clarify the following; neither Mr. Allan Foote of A D & T Excavation nor the company A D & T Excavation is under investigation.

Sudden Death/Fatal RTC - Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Saturday May 7th 2011 at approximately 4:26pm on the property of the Rosewood Tucker’s Point Club. It appears that 73 year old Jean Stanley of Virginia was travelling as a passenger in a golf cart when she fell from the golf cart, sustaining head injuries. As a result Ms. Stanley was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance; however she subsequently succumbed to her injuries. A full investigation into this incident has commenced and the Bermuda Police Service extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.

May 8 - Weekend Report

Injury RTC in Smith’s Parish - Around 12 noon on Friday, Police responded to a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of South Road and Zuill’s Park Road in Smith’s parish involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the motorcycle was traveling along South Road and the car was traveling along Zuill’s Park Road when they collided at the junction. The rider of the motorcycle, a 27 year old St. George’s man and the driver of the car, a 63 year old Southampton man were injured; however their injuries appeared to be relatively minor. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Injury RTC in Smith's Parish - At 11am on Friday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Cameron Close involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along North Shore Road when they collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 25 year old Pembroke man, sustained facial injuries; however he declined medical treatment from EMTs at the scene. The driver of the car, a 22 year old Sandys parish woman, was not injured. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Man Arrested in Connection With Suspicious Death of Denise Evans-Wilkinson - On Tuesday 3rd May 2011, officers from the Serious Crime Unit arrested a 46 year old Pembroke man on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody while investigators continue to pursue various lines of inquiry, but he has not been formally charged with any offences.

Damage Only RTC on Harbour Road - At 10:10am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Harbour Road in Warwick near the junction with Tamarind Vale. It appears that a jeep was traveling along Harbour Road when it overturned and collided with a wall. The vehicle and a section of the wall were extensively damaged; however the driver, a 53 year old Sandys parish woman, was not injured.
