Injury RTC in Devonshire - Around 8:25am on Wednesday, Police responded to a reported three vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire near the junction with Cable Hill involving a jeep, a car and a motorcycle. It appears that all three vehicles were traveling along North Shore Road when the collision occurred. The motorcyclist, a 33 year old Hamilton parish woman, was the only person injured. She was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of minor injuries and discharged. Traffic was temporarily delayed in the area as a result.
Attempted Robbery - Around 10:45am on Monday, Police responded to a reported attempted robbery on Middle Road in Warwick. It appears that around 10:30am that day the victim, a 16 year old young man from Hamilton parish, was riding an auxiliary cycle along Middle Road near the junction with Tamarind Vale when he was accosted by two unknown young men on a motorcycle. A passing motorist saw what was taking place and came to the assistance of the teenager. As a result the assailants fled the scene via motorcycle riding in a westerly direction. The 16 year old was not injured, nothing was reported taken and the auxiliary cycle was not damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 8:30am on Monday, April 11th Police attended an apparent single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Berry Hill Road in Paget, near the junction with Tee Street in Devonshire. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however a car was found overturned on Berry Hill Road. A 38 year old woman had to be extricated from the car by emergency personnel.
Witness Appeal: Fatal RTC - Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that occurred around 6pm Thursday, April 7th 2011 at the junction of Middle Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire, claiming the life of 49 year old Timothy Pedro. Road Fatality Identified - The Bermuda Police Service can confirm the death of 49 year old Timothy Joseph Pedro of Sousa Estate Road in Devonshire. Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 6pm on Thursday, April 7th on Middle Road in Devonshire and Parsons Lane. As a result Mr. Pedro was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:22pm. Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 6pm on Middle Road and Parsons Lane in Devonshire. As a result a 49 year old Devonshire man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.
Inquiry Into Inappropriate Communication - The Bermuda Police Service received a report of inappropriate communication between a teacher and a student at one of the island’s private schools and inquires into this matter are underway.
Even though the individual’s name and likeness has been promulgated in the local media, the Bermuda Police Service has not released his name or any information surrounding this inquiry as we believe it is critical that due process in this matter is followed.
Suspicious Package - On Tuesday, April 5th at 10:59am the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire Service responded to a report of a suspicious envelope with an unknown substance that was intercepted at the Cabinet Office. As a result the appropriate protocols were followed and the Cabinet Office was evacuated and the Emergency Ordinance Disposal Unit of the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Fire Service secured the “flat envelope.” The Government Analyst was called and it was ascertained that the substance in the envelope was not a threat to anyone.
Arrests - A 28 year old Sandys man was arrested at Somerset Cricket Club on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply at 11:20pm on Saturday April 2nd. After conducting a liquor license check, officers searched two men under the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) and found a 28 year old man in possession of what appeared to be a rock like substance. He was conveyed to Somerset Police Station where he was detained.
