Update: Assault in Sandys Parish - A 25 year old Sandys parish man has been arrested in connection with the assault that occurred around midnight Thursday, in the vicinity of Woody’s Bar & Restaurant in Sandys parish. The victim, a 35 year old Sandys parish man, sustained several stab wounds and is currently in stable condition on a general ward at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Kenneth Steede was remanded in custody this morning at Magistrate’s Court after he was charged with Aggravated Taking of a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent (TWOC). Steede took an unmarked police car from Police Headquarters in Prospect around 1:25am on Saturday, 18th June. He abandoned the vehicle shortly after but not before colliding with a parked car in the Prospect area. Steede is 45 years old and resides in Pembroke parish. He was not required to enter a plea as the matter is triable on indictment. Steede will return to Court on 14th July. The police can report that the damages caused to the private car and the police car are of a minor nature.

Once again the Bermuda Police Service would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant regarding phishing e-mails and other scams that attempt to obtain personal information or other sensitive data.
Please be aware that banks or other legitimate financial institutions will never ask you for personal account information such as your password.
In addition, residents should ignore ‘official looking’ e-mails claiming to be from any local bank regarding their ‘security information.’

The victim, a 35 year old Sandys parish man, sustained several stab wounds and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Investigation Into Middle Town Lane Burglary - Around 3:45am on Monday, police attended a reported burglary at a Middle Town Lane, Pembroke residence. It appears that an unknown intruder gained entry into the home and was confronted by a male occupant. A struggle ensued and as a result the intruder, a 33 year old man, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit in stable condition. The male occupant was also injured; however his injuries did not require hospital treatment. The other occupants in the house at the time were not injured.

Disturbance at Horseshoe Bay - Early in the afternoon on Monday police attended Horseshoe Bay beach in Southampton where a local group was holding a public event. The group had obtained an Occasional Liquor Licence from Magistrate’s Court and the event was attracting a growing crowd that caused severe congestion issues at the car park and access road. As the crowd grew throughout the day the organisers’ ability to control the event was tested. By about 7:00 pm the police estimated attendance to be in the thousands and they witnessed several offences of public disorder.

Burglary - Around 3:45am on Monday, police attended a reported burglary at a Middle Town Lane, Pembroke residence. Details about what occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that an unknown intruder gained entry into the home and was confronted by a male occupant. The intruder, a 33 year old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment where he is listed in critical condition. The occupants were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Serious RTC in Hamilton Parish - Police and first responders attended a reported serious road traffic collision that took place around 7:45pm on Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton parish involving a motorcycle and a car. It appears that both vehicles were traveling along Blue Hole Hill when they collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 33 year old man and his pillion passenger, also a 33 year old man, were trapped under the car and had to be extricated by police and members of the public.

Visible Police Presence for Holiday Weekend - The Bermuda Police Service will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout the island during this National Heroes Day holiday weekend. We are asking for the public’s co-operation and patience as officers will be conducting stop & searches while monitoring both marine and road traffic activity. Any offences detected will be dealt with promptly and anyone arrested can expect to remain in police custody during the holiday weekend. In addition, impaired driving will not be tolerated; please use a designated driver or other means of transportation if you plan to drink.

Injury RTC in Pembroke - Around 8:30pm on Wednesday, police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on St. John’s Road in Pembroke in the vicinity of Point Mart involving two motorcycles. It appears that one motorcycle was traveling along St. John’s Road and the other motorcycle was exiting Point Mart parking lot when they collided. Both riders, a 24 year old Pembroke man and a 33 year old Warwick woman respectively, were injured; however the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Both motorcycles were damaged. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately half an hour.
