Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva - I am pleased to accept the donation of 350 Trauma Packs on behalf of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS). This represents a key objective of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP) that was set at our AGM held in Bermuda last year. At that meeting, the Commissioners were moved by the powerful story of St. Croix Chief of Police Christopher Howell who survived multiple gunshot wounds in 2012, thanks to a trauma pack that he was carrying.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, Serious Crime Unit - Investigators continue to probe the shooting that took place at Darrells Wharf at about 7:55pm on Monday 16th June, 2014. Fortunately, there were no injuries or loss of life in this brazen attack.
Appeals for witnesses to this event have been marginally successful for persons coming forward to provide accounts of the incident. We are pleased that some people have been brave enough to come forward and assist in bringing these offenders to justice, however more information is being sought – especially from persons who were on the cruise or the dock at the time of the incident.
Police can now confirm 3 persons have been arrested in connection with the firearms incident that took place yesterday evening at a few minutes before 8pm at Darrell's Wharf in Warwick. It appears that the tour boat Coral Princess was returning from an excursion (local patrons) when a motorcycle appeared with two men. The suspects fired at a jet ski that apparently was following the boat into the dock. No one was injured and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen two men leaving the scene on a motorcycle.
