At 4:36am on Saturday 10th January 2015, a male driver reported he was driving his car on South Road by Gulf Stream [formerly Tio Pepe] and lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle subsequently veered off the road, over the embankment towards Horseshoe Beach. The male driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time was unhurt, he remained at the scene for police assistance. Police advise caution in that area for all road users.
Around 1:15pm on Friday, January 9th police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision that took place on South Road in Southampton near the junction with Horseshoe Road resulting in a police Land Cruiser ending up off the road over an embankment.
The male officer driving at the time was extricated out of his vehicle with the assistance of members of the community and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where he was treated and later discharged.
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public's assistance in locating 84 year old Henry Smith, who was apparently last seen around 3pm Thursday, January 8th and subsequently reported missing at 6:45pm that same day.
Mr. Smith is described as brown complexioned, 5'4" tall, with a bald head and moustache.
The Bermuda Police Service Public and Media Relations Department is starting a spontaneous grassroots social media campaign entitled “#drivesafelybdansavealife”.
During the past few weeks we have seen an increase in road traffic collisions and the goal of this grassroots social media campaign is to start dialogue between road users and highlight the importance of “#drivesafelybdansavealife”.
At last check the 22 year old Warwick man seriously injured in a reported two motorcycle collision that occurred around 5:45am Wednesday, January 7th on South Road in Paget near the junction with Tribe Road No. 4B was in stable condition at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while the other injured rider, a 69 year old Devonshire man, was recovering in stable condition on a general ward.
Inquiries are ongoing and police continue to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to contact Constable Stephen Clyke at the main police telephone number 295-0011.
Around 5:45am on Wednesday, January 7th first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision that resulted in serious injury on South Road in Paget near the junction with Tribe Road No. 4B. It appears that two motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
Both injured riders, a 22 year old Warwick man and a 69 year old Devonshire man, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 33 year old Jereme Cumbermack of Sandys who was seriously injured in a traffic collision that took place on Middle Road in Warwick near to the junction with Morgan’s Road.
It appears that Jereme Cumbermack was riding his motorcycle east along Middle Road when he lost control of his cycle and collided with a car. Following the collision Jereme was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
At approximately 7:09pm on Thursday January 1st police and first responders attended a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision that took place on Roberts Avenue in Devonshire near to the junction with Friswells Road. It appears that two motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided. A 47 year old Devonshire parish male and a 19 year old Pembroke parish male were taken to KEMH where they are being treated for injuries.
The Bermuda Police Service recognizes on Christmas Day a number of the island residents converge on Elbow Beach for festive celebrations.
This results in cars and cycles being illegally parked on South Road and surrounding roads causing major traffic delays and safety hazards.
This year police officers will be on hand to facilitate the free flow of traffic and to assist persons who would like to park on the Horizons Golf Course kindly offered by the Coral Beach for a small donation to the St. Paul's Anglican Church.
Police continue to appeal for witness in the road traffic death of 23 year old Shawn Williams.
