On Wednesday 17th March 2010, Police received a report of an attempted theft. A 13 year old boy from Smith’s Parish was allegedly assaulted by a young man in the vicinity of the ferry terminal in the City of Hamilton as he exited a bus. The suspect was unsuccessful in obtaining any property before fleeing.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact the Hamilton Police Station on 295-0011.
At 2pm on Thursday, Police were conducting speed checks on Middle Road in Devonshire when a man on a motorcycle was observed traveling through the area at an excessive speed. As a result a pursuit took place through parts of Devonshire and Pembroke before the rider, a 17 year old Pembroke man, was apprehended behind Devonshire Preschool. Police also impounded the motorcycle.
At one point during the pursuit, the fleeing motorcycle was traveling west on Berry Hill Road (near the hospital’s overflow parking area) when it collided with a SUV traveling in the opposite direction; however the motorcycle kept going. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
Officers from the Eastern Criminal Investigation Unit have arrested two 25 year old males on suspicion of possessing a significant quantity of controlled drugs, which were packaged for sale. The two males, one from Pembroke and one from Warwick, were stopped and searched under the new PACE legislation, after having been seen behaving suspiciously on Middle Road, Warwick Thursday night (March 18th). When the motorcycle they were riding was searched, the suspected controlled drugs were found under the seat of the motorcycle. Both males were arrested and are presently helping Police with their enquiries at Southside Police Station.
Vehicle Fire - Around 1:50am today, Police received a report of a vehicle fire at a White Hill View, Sandys parish residence. The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service also attended the scene. On arrival officers observed a car parked outside the home ablaze. The fire was extinguished by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel. The interior of the vehicle was damaged. There were no reported injuries. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.

Long Lane Pembroke, between 8pm and 9pm on Wednesday March 17th, after being out with his friends. Molinski did not show up for work this morning (Thursday), so his friends went to his residence to check on him and he was not located at the residence.
Injury RTC - Around 7:30am today, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Warwick near the Warwick Post Office involving an auxiliary cycle and a pedestrian. It appears that the pedestrian, a 10 year old Warwick boy, was walking across the pedestrian crossing after traffic had stopped to allow him to cross. However, the auxiliary cycle was traveling east on Middle Road and collided with the boy. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 17 year old young man from Sandys parish, sustained facial injuries. The pedestrian’s injuries are unknown at this time. Both injured parties were taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment.
Around 5:15pm today, Police received a report of gunshots in the Curving Avenue, Pembroke area. Police attended the scene a short time later and conducted a thorough search of the vicinity. Forensic evidence found suggested that a firearm had been discharged; however no one reported being injured. Officers are currently maintaining a Police presence in area. An investigation into this matter is underway. Last night (Tuesday, March 16th) at the Francis Patton Primary School, the Eastern Area Command hosted a town hall
meeting. The purpose of the town hall meeting was to introduce the Community Action Team (CAT) officers to their community formally and to allow public feedback and discussion by residents on policing initiatives while emphasizing Police working in partnership with the community as outlined in the Policing Plan 2010.
Injury RTC - Around 2:15pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Point Finger Road in Paget involving a car and a motorcycle. It appears that the car and the motorcycle were traveling in opposite directions when the vehicles collided. The rider of the motorcycle, a 36 year old man, complained of pain to his left hand and left foot. He was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. The driver of the car, a 72 year old Warwick woman, was not injured. The vehicles received relatively minor damage. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.
