March 1 - Daily Report

Injury RTC - Around 7am on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury at the junction of North Shore Road and Hilltop Drive in Hamilton parish involving a car, a motorcycle and a pedal cycle. It appears that the car was traveling west on North Shore Road while the motorcycle and the pedal cycle were both traveling in the opposite direction when all three vehicles collided. As a result the rider of the motorcycle, a 40 year old Warwick man, sustained injuries to his back and legs. The rider of the pedal cycle, a 41 year old Sandys parish man, sustained injuries to his back and left elbow.

February 28 - Weekend Report

Robbery - Around 9:40am on Saturday, Police received a report of a robbery at Card Cove in the City of Hamilton. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later. It appears that around 9:30am that day an unknown man entered the store and approached the cashier. The suspect brandished a bladed article before taking a quantity of money from the cash register and making good his escape on Queen Street. The cashier, an 85 year old Devonshire woman and a customer who was in the store at the time, a 76 year old Paget woman, were not injured. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Sunday Weather Advisory

From the Government Department of Communication & Information (DCI) - The Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) issued a severe weather advisory this early morning as it is expected that Bermuda will experience unsettled weather conditions throughout the day.

According to the BWS gale conditions are likely this morning through this evening with the potential of gusts reaching storm force.

As the day progresses, the public can expect to experience hurricane gusts of up to 65 knots in some instances.

Burglary - Around 6:45pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a burglary at a Whaling Hill, Southampton residence. The complainant stated that sometime between 7:20am and 6:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into her home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a Nintendo Wii video game system, several Wii games, a Dell laptop computer and a Sony DVD player. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Injury RTC

Around 8:50am today, a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury occurred on St. John’s Road in Pembroke near the junction with Berkeley Road involving a car and a pedestrian. It appears that the victim, a 14 year old young man from Sandys parish, was crossing the pedestrian crossing by the bus stop on St. John’s Road as a car had already stopped to let the teenager across. However another car traveling west on St. John’s Road collided with the Berkeley Institute student and continued westward without stopping. The victim was taken to KEMH and treated for an injury to his right knee. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

February 25 - Daily Report

Sexual Assault - Around 11pm on Wednesday, Police received a report of a sexual assault on Burnt House Hill in Warwick. It appears that the victim, a 28 year old Warwick woman, was returning to her residence on her auxiliary cycle. As she prepared to park the auxiliary cycle outside her residence, the Warwick woman was accosted by an unknown man. The suspect is described as a light skinned male, approximately 6’ tall of slim build wearing dark coloured clothing. He made good his escape on foot towards Middle Road. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Response to Reported Middle Terrace Shooting

Around 9:30pm on Friday, February 19th 2010 Police received a report of gunshots in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area. Officers attended the scene a short time later and conducted a search of the area; they also spoke with area residents. However, there was no physical evidence of a shooting found and no credible information at the time to confirm that a firearm incident had taken place.

Recruit Foundation Course #72 Charity Fundraiser

The Bermuda Police Service Recruit Foundation Course (RFC) #72 is holding a car wash and bake sale on Saturday, February 27th 2010 at the Paget Shell Service Station on Middle Road, Paget from 8am – 4pm.

All funds raised will be donated to the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Every Recruit Foundation Course raises money for the charity of their choice. This year the Police recruits of RFC #72 have chosen the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).

February 24 - Daily Report

Damage Only RTC/Impaired Driving - At 11:05pm on Tuesday, Police attended a reported damage only road traffic collision on Harbour Road in Paget, near the junction with Manse Road involving four vehicles. It appears that a car was traveling west on Harbour Road when the driver, a 30 year old Devonshire man, lost control. As a result the car collided with a parked car, a parked motorcycle and a parked van as well as the wall of a Harbour Road residence. The westbound car was extensively damaged; however the driver was not injured. The Devonshire man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. All of the parked vehicles were extensively damaged.

The Bermuda Police Service has received a report of an alleged sexual assault on Sunday, February 14th 2010. Officers have been in contact with the complainant and her allegations are being fully investigated.
