The motoring public is reminded that during the Tall Ships visit to Bermuda June 10 - 16, there will be several road closures as well as areas where parking will be restricted in and around the City of Hamilton. For a full list of the road closures and no parking areas, please click here.

Burglary - Around 12:40pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported burglary at a Greendale Lane, Warwick residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that sometime between 10am and 12:30pm that day, an unknown culprit gained entry into his home while it was unoccupied. The culprit stole a Sony LCD TV. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Recovered Jewelry - The St. George’s Criminal Investigation Unit is continuing to appeal for any residents that live in the areas of Chapel of Ease Road/Stokes Point Road in St. David’s and the surrounding St. George’s community who have been the victim of a burglary recently to contact them at 278-5105 or Detective Sergeant Jason Smith at 515-0864 in order to identify jewelry seized after a man was arrested in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred in the east end over the past few months.

Marine Advisory - Tall Ships

The Marine Police would like to advise all mariners to keep clear of the Tall Ships when they are navigating in the shipping channel, particularly when they are berthing and unberthing at the docks on Thursday, June 11 and on Monday, June 15. These ships have a deep draft and are slow to maneuver; therefore we are asking all boaters to give them adequate clearance.

Witness Appeal - Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the fatal road traffic collision that claimed the life of 25 year old Christopher Alves which occurred around 10pm Thursday on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish near the junction with Spanish Heights Road. Any witnesses or anyone with any information about the collision is encouraged to contact PC Ian Taitt at the Roads Policing Unit on 299-4390, 515-9999 or the main Police number 295-0011.

Injury RTC - At 2:45am on Saturday, Police attended a reported serious single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Crow Lane in Paget near the junction with Corkscrew Hill. It appears that a rental cycle was traveling south on Crow Lane when the rider, a 25 year old Devonshire man (Canadian national) lost control, mounted a sidewalk and collided with a concrete pillar. The Devonshire man sustained serious head & internal injuries and was rushed to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. He is currently in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The rental cycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Recruit Foundation Course #71 Car Wash to Aid Charity

The Bermuda Police Service Recruit Foundation Course (RFC) #71 is holding a car wash with all proceeds going to benefit Friends of Hospice Agape House.

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 25 year old Christopher Alves of Pembroke. Around 10pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish near the junction with Spanish Heights Road. It appears that a motorcycle ridden by Mr. Alves was traveling west on Knapton Hill when it was in collision with a parked truck. Mr. Alves sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by EMTs before being rushed to KEMH via ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 10:20pm.

Disturbance At The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club

Further enquires into the incident at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club were made and the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now report the following. Around 1:25am on Sunday, May 31 the Police were called to a reported disturbance at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. On arrival there was no sign of a disturbance but it appeared that an after prom party for the graduating class of BHS was taking place at the premises. One of the people at the scene reported a superficial injury and was treated by the attending ambulance crew.

Disturbance - Around 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported disturbance at Albouy’s Point in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a few young men were involved in a physical altercation at that location; however on arrival there was no disturbance taking place. Officers spoke with the victim, a 19 year old Warwick man, who stated that he was assaulted about the body by two men. The suspects, a 23 year old Pembroke man and a 21 year old Devonshire man, were subsequently located on Front Street and arrested in connection with the incident. Inquiries are underway.
