The 24 year old gunshot victim injured in the shooting incident outside Gravity Nightclub – North Shore Road, Devonshire in the early hours of Saturday morning – has been airlifted to the United States for specialist surgery.
The young man suffered serious injuries when he was shot multiple times sometime between 3:15am & 3:25am.
Detectives are continuing their investigations into this matter. A number of witnesses have been interviewed and the scene has been forensically examined.
Arrests - Around 12:20am on Tuesday December 20th, officers on mobile patrol observed two men on a motorcycle travelling at speed along Ord Road in Paget. As a result, officers attempted to stop the motorcycle and a chase ensued. During the pursuit, the motorcycle fell to the ground and the rider and pillion passenger ran off. Officers conducted a search of the area and subsequently arrested the pillion passenger, an 18 year old Devonshire man in connection with this incident. He has been detained in police custody pending further inquiries. The motorcycle involved was reported stolen in November 2011 and impounded at the scene.
Around 7:05pm on Monday, December 19th police responded to a reported robbery at Henry VIII Pantry on South Road in Southampton. It appears that an unknown man entered the premises and brandished what is believed to be a firearm. At the time only staff was present in the store. The culprit took a quantity of cash before reportedly making good his escape with an accomplice who was waiting outside. It is believed that both men fled on foot. No one was injured.
Impaired Driving - Around 12:30am on Saturday, police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision at the junction of South Road and Point Finger Road in Paget. It appears that a car was traveling along Point Finger Road when it collided with a wall at the junction. The driver, a 28 year old Hamilton parish man, was not injured; however the vehicle received extensive front end damage. The driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
The Serious Crime Unit is investigating the circumstances where a 24 year old Pembroke man was shot multiple times outside the Gravity nightclub, on North Shore Road, Devonshire. The victim suffered injuries to his back, shoulder and arms, and they are considered serious. The shooting occurred sometime between 3:15am and 3:20am Saturday, December 17th.
Investigators have examined the identified crime scene for evidence, and are speaking with area residents and other witnesses.
Around 3:25am on Saturday, December 17th police received reports of gunshots in the North Shore Road, Devonshire area. Officers immediately responded to the scene outside Gravity nightclub near Loyal Hill Pass and found a 24 year old man injured as a result. He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. The severity of the victim’s injuries is unknown at this time.
The scene was cordoned off and a full investigation commenced. Traffic was also diverted away from the area but that section of North Shore Road has now been re-opened.
Between 1:30pm and 3:30pm today, Friday December 16th, students from Clearwater Middle School washed police vehicles at
Southside Police Station. The six M3 students were joined by their teacher Ms. Jannelle White who organised the activity as a way to show their appreciation and give back to the police during the holiday season. [Click photo to enlarge].
Minor Disturbance - Police are investigating a report of a minor disturbance between two males that occurred in the entrance foyer of Hamilton Magistrates Court on the morning of Thursday December 15th. No injuries were reported and the incident was quickly dealt with by G.E.T. security screening personnel. The parties separated and left the building. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing.
Collision - Around 11:30am on Wednesday, December 14th police were on mobile patrol in the Cobbs Hill Road, Warwick area when they encountered a white car traveling at speed along Ord Road. The officers activated the police vehicle’s emergency equipment; however the offending vehicle did not stop. Police pursued the white car on to Middle Road in Paget, where the driver of the fleeing vehicle collided with another car near Manse Road, before finally colliding with a wall near Tanglewood Road.
Collision - Around 7:30am on Monday December 12th, police responded to a report of a collision near the junction of Middle Road and Lighthouse Road in Southampton. It appears that a car and a motorcycle were travelling along Middle Road when they collided. The motorcycle was extensively damaged. Traffic in the area was diverted as a result. The rider of the motorcycle, a 29 year old Hamilton parish man received relatively minor injuries. The driver of the car, a 55 year old Southampton woman was not injured. Inquiries are underway.
