Update: Motorists Ticketed During Road Checks - Between 7:15am and 9:15am on Thursday January 5th, police officers monitored traffic in Pembroke for offences under the Road Traffic Act as well as the recently enacted Traffic Offences (Penalties) Amendment Act 2011, which prohibits the use of hand-held mobile phones or other hand-held devices whilst driving.
As a result, this morning officers ticketed 13 people under the new legislation, issued six tickets for seatbelt offences and one ticket for an unfastened helmet.
Motorists Ticketed During Road Checks - Between 7:30am and 9:30am on Wednesday January 4th, police officers monitored traffic in both the western and central parishes for offences under the Road Traffic Act as well as the recent legislation which prohibits the use of hand-held mobile phones or other hand-held devices whilst driving.
As a result, officers ticketed 15 people for using hand-held mobile phones or other hand-held devices whilst driving, issued one ticket for an unfastened helmet and arrested two people for outstanding warrants.
Around 6:55pm on Tuesday, January 3rd police responded to a reported robbery at Flatts Service Station on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish. It appears that an unknown man entered the premises brandishing a bladed article and escaped on foot heading east with a quantity of cash. No one was injured.
Around 3:25pm on Tuesday, January 3rd police responded to a reported incident at a Long Ridge Pass, Devonshire residence. It appears that two men on motorcycles arrived at the home and one of the men gained entry, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, while the other waited outside.
The intruder briefly confronted a female occupant before leaving the premises. Both suspects left the area on separate motorcycles. No one was injured. Two persons of interest were subsequently arrested in connection with this incident.
The 24 year old gunshot victim that suffered serious injuries after a shooting outside Gravity Nightclub on North Shore Road in Devonshire during the early morning hours of Saturday, 17th December 2011 remains overseas receiving specialised treatment.
Forensic evidence obtained from that scene has been sent overseas for analysis and detectives are working with key witnesses to progress the case.
Overturned Boat - Around 2pm on Monday, January 2nd police responded to a reported overturned powerboat in the waters off East Shore Road in Sandys parish. On arrival officers found the boat ashore and the two men onboard at the time uninjured, having also made it to shore safely.

Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke - Detectives from the Somerset Criminal Investigations Unit continue to investigate
the robbery of a local business located at the ‘Hitching Post’ on Middle Road, Sandys about 8:15am on Wednesday 28th December.
Investigations have revealed that four men targeted a cash delivery van; the guards on the van were ambushed by the suspects, some of whom were brandishing firearms. They forced the guards to get the business operators at the location to open the door, where they were able to steal a quantity of cash in bags.
Collision in Sandys Parish - Around 9pm on Wednesday, December 28th police and first responders attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Malabar Road in Sandys parish in the vicinity of Watford Bridge involving two motorcycles. Details about how the collision occurred are unclear at this time; however the motorcycle riders, two 21 year old Sandys parish men, were injured. Their injuries are not considered life threatening. In addition, both motorcycles were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
