Collisions - Around 7am on Wednesday March 7th, police and first responders attended a reported collision on Palmetto Road in Devonshire between a car and a motorcycle. It appears the vehicles were travelling along Palmetto Road when they collided near the junction with Aeolia Drive. The rider, a 33 year old Hamilton parish woman was injured and conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance. The driver, a 68 year old Warwick woman was not injured. Both vehicles were damaged and there were traffic delays in the area as a result. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Acting Superintendent Nicholas Pedro addresses the media regarding an increase in acquisitive crime.
Acting Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, Officer in Charge: Serious Crime Division - The Bermuda Police Service is keen to
raise awareness about an increase in what we term ‘acquisitive’ crime.
‘Acquisitive crime’ covers crime where items are stolen or acquired fraudulently. This includes theft, burglary, robbery, and fraud. Locally we have also seen an increase in the circulation of counterfeit Bermuda currency.
Police are investigating a reported robbery that occurred around 7:30pm on Monday March 5th in the Lolly’s Lane, Smith’s parish area. It appears that a taxi driver dropped off a fare in the area when he was accosted by two unknown men, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The suspects stole a quantity of cash before making good their escape on a dark & red coloured motorcycle. The taxi driver, a 34 year old Devonshire man, was not injured.
The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 49 year old John Iris. Mr. Iris has now been located and returned safe and well.
Missing Person: John Iris - The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 49 year old John
Iris [pictured]. He was last seen on Monday March 5th, 2012 wearing blue jeans and a brown sweater and is known to frequent the City of Hamilton. Mr. Iris is described as brown-skinned, 6 feet tall and 170lbs. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 49 year old John Iris is encouraged to contact the Vulnerable Persons Unit on 295-0011.
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 17 year old Santina Harvey and 15 year old
Ashley Mussenden. The teenagers were last seen on Friday, March 2nd.
Santina [pictured] is described as dark brown skinned of slim build, approximately 5’7” tall weighing around 115 pounds with reddish-brown long hair. She was last seen wearing a pair of jeans, a brown leather jacket and brown boots.
Collisions - Around 5:25am on Sunday March 4th, police responded to a single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Newport Gardens. It appears that a car was travelling along Middle Road when it collided with a utility pole. The driver, a 36 year old Devonshire woman was injured and apparently treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Missing Person William Peniston Located - The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 58 year old William Peniston of St. George’s. Mr. Peniston has been located safe and well.
Robbery & Attempted Robbery
Around 2:45pm on Friday, March 2nd a reported robbery occurred in the Summit View Drive, Hamilton parish area. A quantity of cash was taken from a 21 year old Hamilton parish man, who was not injured.
The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 58 year old William Peniston of St. George’s.
Mr. Peniston, a taxi driver, is described as light skinned of medium build, 5’10” tall with black hair cut short. He was last seen on Thursday, March 1st driving taxi T1578, wearing a white dress shirt, grey pants and a dark green sweater vest.
