Collisions - Around 5:25am on Sunday March 4th, police responded to a single vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Newport Gardens. It appears that a car was travelling along Middle Road when it collided with a utility pole. The driver, a 36 year old Devonshire woman was injured and apparently treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Around 5:40am on Saturday March 3rd, police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish. It appears that a car was travelling along North Shore Road when it collided with a curb and overturned near the junction with Store Hill. The car was damaged but the driver; a 50 year old Devonshire man was not injured. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.
Impaired Drivers
Around 2:30am on Sunday March 4th, police on mobile patrol along North Shore Road, Hamilton parish caused a car to stop near the junction with East Point Lane. Officers spoke to the driver, a 29 year old Southampton man who appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, the Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and an outstanding warrant. He was detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Around 6:40pm on Saturday March 3rd, officers on mobile patrol observed a truck and a car stopped at the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Southampton which had apparently been involved in a minor collision. There were no reported injuries. Officers approached the driver of the truck, a 54 year old Sandys man, who appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, the Sandys man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Around 12:30am on Saturday March 3rd, officers on mobile patrol on Court Street in Pembroke observed a car driving erratically. They pursued the car and caused it to stop at the junction of Elliot Street and King Street. Officers approached the driver, a 37 year old Devonshire man who appeared to be intoxicated. As a result, the Devonshire man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He was detained in police custody after failing the alco-analyser test. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Weekend Police Activity
Over the weekend, police officers arrested 11 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested seven people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.
