Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 25 year old Christopher Alves of Pembroke. Around 10pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported serious road traffic collision on Knapton Hill in Smith’s parish near the junction with Spanish Heights Road. It appears that a motorcycle ridden by Mr. Alves was traveling west on Knapton Hill when it was in collision with a parked truck. Mr. Alves sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene by EMTs before being rushed to KEMH via ambulance. However, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 10:20pm.
Further enquires into the incident at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club were made and the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now report the following. Around 1:25am on Sunday, May 31 the Police were called to a reported disturbance at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. On arrival there was no sign of a disturbance but it appeared that an after prom party for the graduating class of BHS was taking place at the premises. One of the people at the scene reported a superficial injury and was treated by the attending ambulance crew.
Disturbance - Around 9:40pm on Wednesday, Police attended a reported disturbance at Albouy’s Point in the City of Hamilton. It appears that a few young men were involved in a physical altercation at that location; however on arrival there was no disturbance taking place. Officers spoke with the victim, a 19 year old Warwick man, who stated that he was assaulted about the body by two men. The suspects, a 23 year old Pembroke man and a 21 year old Devonshire man, were subsequently located on Front Street and arrested in connection with the incident. Inquiries are underway.

Detective Chief Inspector Antoine Daniels - The Bermuda Police Service would like to provide an update on the investigation into the shooting incidents which occurred on St. Monica’s Road and Court Street on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd May 2009 respectively. As previously reported, 27 year old Pembroke resident Kenwandee Robinson lost his life as a result of sustaining gunshot wounds to his body, while on St. Monica’s Road. A second man was also hit, but his injuries were not life threatening and he has been treated at the hospital and released.
Injury RTC - Around 11:45am on Tuesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Sandy’s parish near the Somerset Bridge Post Office. It appears that a car and a van were parked next to each other at the rear of the post office. As the driver of the car, a 70 year old Sandy’s parish woman, drove away from the parking area she collided with the front of the parked van before losing control and colliding with a wall opposite the entrance to the post office. The Sandy’s parish woman sustained facial injuries and was taken to KEMH via ambulance for treatment.
The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Fatal RTC - The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 22 year old Delmonte Browne of Paget. Mr. Browne was riding a motorcycle which was involved in a three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Paget near Eve’s Cycles around 2:30pm Saturday. He was seriously injured and rushed to KEMH via ambulance where he was subsequently pronounced dead at 4:39pm by an on call physician. The Bermuda Police Service extends our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the deceased. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
Fatal RTC - Around 2:30pm on Saturday, Police received a report of a serious road traffic collision on Middle Road in Paget near Eve's Cycles involving a car and a motorcycle. Details about how the collision occured are unclear; however, the male motorcyclist was seriously injured and rushed to KEMH via ambulance, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. Inquiries are underway. No further information will be released until the deceased's next of kin have been notified.
This marks the 7th road traffic fatality for 2009.
Commissioner of Police George Jackson - Once again the peace and quiet we have come to know and expect has been disturbed by criminals who are determined to upset the quality of life on our island. The series of incidents over the 22nd and 23rd May are a grim reminder of the realities we face as we combat an unprecedented level of criminality. Let me extend the Bermuda Police Service's condolences to the family of Kenwandee Robinson who died as a result of the incident on St. Monica’s Road on Friday 22nd May.
There has been widespread speculation about who might have played a role in the three shooting incidents, including an email circulating to that effect. However, the Bermuda Police Service has made no formal release regarding any persons of interest in connection with these incidents and will not comment further on matters under active investigation.
