On Thursday, March 29th as a result of information received, officers from the Public Protection Department executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a Pembroke residence. As a result, a quantity of suspected controlled drugs was seized and three males were arrested on suspicion of drug possession. Inquiries into this matter are ongoing. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.
Collision - Around 5:20pm on Wednesday, March 28th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Blackwatch Pass in Pembroke. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling along Blackwatch Pass when it collided with a sidewalk. As a result the rider, a 22 year old Hamilton parish man, was injured; however his injuries are not believed to be serious. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Collision - Around 9:20pm on Tuesday, March 27th police attended a reported two vehicle damage only collision on Spanish Point Road in Pembroke near the junction with St. John’s Hill. It appears that a jeep and a car were traveling along Spanish Point Road when the jeep collided with a utility pole as well as the car. Both vehicles were damaged as a result; however there were no reported injuries.
On Tuesday, March 27th officers from the Public Protection Department including the K9 Unit and the Underwater Search & Recovery Team conducted an operation at the east end of the Island. As a result, police divers recovered property from area waters and five arrests have been made so far. No further information will be given at this time as inquiries are ongoing.
Collision - Around 10:30am on Monday, March 26th police and first responders attended a reported collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with High Point Road. It appears that two motorcycles were traveling along Middle Road when they collided. The rider and pillion passenger of one motorcycle, a 19 year old Sandys parish man and an 18 year old Southampton man respectively, were injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. They were later released. The rider of the other motorcycle, a 35 year old Southampton man, was also injured; however his injuries were relatively minor.
On Saturday 24th March 2012 officers from the Serious Crime Unit recovered a loaded firearm from a Pembroke residence. The details of the weapon will not be released at this time, and forensic testing will be conducted on the weapon for ballistic results. This is the second firearm recovered to date for 2012.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are also continuing their investigations into the shooting that occurred outside ‘Shine’s’ club on Reid Street in the early hours of Saturday morning at about 3:50am. Officers investigating the incident have recovered a motorcycle and other items that they believe were used in this crime. Forensic testing of these items has been conducted as detectives pursue lines of enquiry regarding the perpetrators, in order to bring them to justice.
Three men appeared in Hamilton Magistrates Court today on multiple charges relating to two separate incidents that occurred on the night of Monday 19th March, 2012. They faced charges of Aggravated Burglary, Serious Sexual Assault, two counts of Taking a Motorcycle without Consent, Assault with Intent to Rob, Possession of a Firearm, and Using a Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence. All three defendants were remanded in custody as a result.
The Serious Crime Unit is investigating a firearm incident that took place on Reid Street in the City of Hamilton near the junction with Spurling Hill, at approximately 3:50am on Saturday 24th March 2012. It appears that two persons on a dark coloured motorcycle wearing dark coloured helmets were travelling in a westerly direction on Cavendish Road before discharging several shots in the Reid Street, Spurling Hill area. The suspects then made a U-turn and travelled in an easterly direction down Spurling Hill.
At the time of the shooting there were numerous patrons attending and leaving a nightclub in the area who may have witnessed the incident.
Update: Collision in Warwick - Around 9:15pm on Friday, March 23rd police and first responders attended a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of South Road & Tribe Road #2 South in Warwick.
It appears that an auxiliary cycle was traveling along South Road and a SUV was traveling along Tribe Road #2 South when the vehicles collided at the junction.
The auxiliary cycle rider, a 46 year old Pembroke man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check the victim was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
