Around 3:40 this morning, Police received a report of a disturbance at a Friswells Road, Pembroke residence. It appears that around 3:20am four men attended the residence, with two of them brandishing weapons (blunt articles and a bladed article). One of the suspects then attacked one of the occupants with the bladed article.
The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 39 year old Martha Hoopes of Illinois, USA. Mrs. Hoopes was traveling east on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Lighthouse Hill (entrance of Fairmont Southampton) with her 9 year old daughter as a pillion passenger when a collision took place between her livery cycle and a van traveling in a westerly direction. This resulted in her daughter receiving injuries and Mrs. Hoopes being rendered unconscious at the scene.
Two men at 8:20pm on Thursday, March 20th attended the Hamilton Police Station and reported that they were robbed at gun point on Parsons Lane in Devonshire, near Bermuda Water Works Limited. The complainants stated that they were repairing a cycle on the side of the road when two males walked up to them and pointed what appeared to be a firearm at them. The suspects then made demands of money and robbed the males of an undisclosed amount of cash.
The Bermuda Police Service would advise the public that there will be a very robust police presence over the Holiday Period. We would like to bring a few things to the publics attention.
Police would like the public’s assistance in locating 38 year old Ricardo Eugene Walker. He has been missing since March 12th, 2008 when he was last spoken to. He is described as being between 5'8"- 6'0", medium build, light skin, with blue eyes. His last known address is Granaway Heights, Southampton. However, he is believed to live somewhere on Lovers Lane, Paget.
Police responded to a report of a burglary that took place on Two Way Lane in Pembroke. The complainant states that around 8:30am yesterday, he left his residence only to return at 4:30pm to notice that someone had gained entry into his dwelling. The culprit made an untidy search and stole a 17" flat screen I-Mac computer, a portable DVD player, a portable Sony CD player and a Sharp 19" TV. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
Theft
Around 8:10 this morning, Police attended a report of suspicious circumstances on Parsons Road in Pembroke. On arrival officers spoke with the complainants, checked the vehicle and collected evidence to be forensically tested for fingerprints. An investigation into this incident is underway.
Around 11:30pm on Sunday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Mullet Bay Road in St. Georges near the junction with Stokes Point Road, involving a truck and an auxiliary cycle. It appears that the truck was traveling east on Mullet Bay Road and the cycle was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided.
At 2:15 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle road traffic collision resulting in injury on Middle Road in Devonshire, between Tee Street and Spur Lane. It appears that a motorcycle was traveling east on Middle Road when the rider, a 33 year old Smiths parish man lost control attempting to negotiate a left hand bend, crossed over into the westbound lane and collided with a wall.
