Breaking & Entering - Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a residence on North Shore Road in Pembroke. It appears that the complainant arrived home around 7pm on Wednesday only to notice that someone had made an untidy search of his belongings and stole an undisclosed amount of money from his residence. The suspect is known to the victim and inquires into this incident are underway.

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is pleased with the Police Complaints Authority’s review of our collision statistics and the training we provide to our officers. The PCA’s review allowed them to be satisfied that the BPS takes all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the public as it relates to police collisions.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard - The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) wishes a safe and fun night for all who will be taking part in Halloween related activities. The BPS is also mindful that there are persons within our community who will use this opportunity to commit unlawful acts which may cause injury to persons and/or damage to property. The BPS would like to take this opportunity to assure the public that such behaviour will not be tolerated and there will be an increased deployment of Police resources during Halloween.

Injury RTC - Around 8:20am on Wednesday, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on Mullet Bay Road in St. George’s near the junction with Wellington Street involving a car and a mini bus. It appears that the car was traveling west on Mullet Bay Road and the mini bus was traveling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided. The driver of the car, a 33 year old St. George’s woman, complained of pain to her back while her passengers, an 11 year old St. George’s girl and a 3 year old St. George’s girl complained of pain to their neck, lower back and neck respectively. Attempted Handbag Snatch - Around 11:20pm on Tuesday, Police received a report of an attempted handbag snatch on Serpentine Road in Pembroke near its junction with Pitts Bay Road. The victim, a 28 year old Pembroke woman, stated that she was walking along Serpentine Road when she passed an unknown man sitting on a motorcycle outside Trelawney Lane. The unknown man then approached her from behind, grabbed her black handbag, walked back to the motorcycle and attempted to make good his escape. However, the Pembroke woman took her handbag back and a struggle ensued. The offender eventually let go of the handbag when she started screaming and made good his escape.

The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to drive as well as ride responsibly on the island’s roads. Additionally, we urge those traveling in cars to use their seatbelts at all times and make sure any children traveling in the vehicle are appropriately restrained. Those traveling on motorcycles should always fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane.

Vehicle Fire - Around 3:35 this morning, Police received a report of a vehicle fire on Union Street in Pembroke. It appears that two motorcycles were extensively damaged by the blaze while a taxi received rear end smoke damage. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway; arson has not been ruled out. Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.

Disturbance - At 1:55am on Saturday, Police received a report of a disturbance at Bermuda College. Officers arrived at the location a short time later and observed a large crowd present. Some individuals within the crowd were reportedly throwing helmets at each other; however those allegedly involved made good their escape. As a result, Police maintained a highly visible presence in the area until the crowd dispersed without further incident.

Injury RTC - Around 1:25pm today, Police received a report of a road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Store Hill. Details about what occurred are unclear at this time; however it appears that a truck overturned. As a result there were traffic delays in the area; however the vehicle involved was subsequently removed from the scene and normal traffic flow resumed. Inquiries into this incident are underway.
