Response: Violence at Somerset Cricket Club After Sunday's Football Game

Assistant Commissioner Martin Weekes - "On Sunday, October 23, 2016,  a scheduled football game took place at Somerset Cricket Club between Dandy Town and Somerset Trojans. The Bermuda Police Service deployed a number of officers including Armed resources based on requests from the BFA including concerns around some members of the visiting team and officers maintained a consistent presence at the field for the duration of the game. The Somerset Cricket Club is responsible for security at all scheduled games. Security for this game did not include the hiring of Extra Duty Police Officers.

Burglary Reported at Two St. George’s Churches

Around 9:20am on Saturday, October 22nd police received a report of a burglary at St. Peter’s Church in St. George’s where a quantity of cash was taken.

Around 11am on Saturday, October 22nd police received a report of a burglary at Wellington Baptist Church in St. George’s where a suggestion box was damaged. However, it appears nothing was taken.

Sister Injured, Brother Arrested in Reported Domestic Incident [Updated]

Around 1:40pm on Sunday, October 23rd police and first responders were dispatched to a reported domestic incident at a Devon Spring Road, Devonshire residence.

Details are limited at this time. However, it appears that an altercation occurred between an adult brother and sister.

The brother, a 40 year old Devonshire man, apparently brandished a bladed article and injured his sister, a 44 year old Devonshire woman.

Elderly Couple Injured in Two Car Devonshire Collision

Around 9:45pm on Thursday, October 20th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Melville Crescent.

Details remain unclear at this time. However, it appears that a car being driven along South Road struck a utility pole before colliding with another car being driven in the opposite direction.

Two Men Injured in Paget Collision Recovering

The two men injured in a reported motorcycle and auxiliary cycle collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Tribe Road No. 5 around 8:30am Wednesday, October 19th are continuing to receive treatment at the hospital.

At last check the motorcyclist, a 43 year old Sandys parish man, was in stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit while the auxiliary cycle rider, a 48 year old Sandys parish man, was in stable condition on a general ward.

Two Men Injured in Paget Collision [Updated]

Around 8:30am today (Wednesday, October 19th) police and first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Tribe Road No. 5.

Details remain unclear at this time. However, it appears that a motorcycle and an auxiliary cycle being ridden in opposite directions along South Road between Elbow Beach and Coral Beach collided.

Murder of 19 Year Old Isaiah Furbert

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Mark Clarke - Police can now confirm the death of 19 year old Isaiah Furbert who died as a result of a firearm incident that took place at 10pm Tuesday on Upland Street in Devonshire.

Details of the incident are very unclear but Mr. Furbert was shot at a residence on Upland Street and was subsequently taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 pm.

On behalf of the Bermuda Police Service we would first like to send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Isaiah.

Fatal Shooting on Upland Street in Devonshire

Chief Inspector Tracy Adams - At approximately 10pm tonight police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Upland Street, Devonshire. Upon arrival they discovered a 19 year old male had been shot and taken to the hospital where he has succumbed to his injuries. On scene now we have our Forensic Support Unit and Serious Crime Unit conducting initial inquiries and we'll be making a full statement later tomorrow as soon as we get more details as to what's taken place at this residence.

Two Stabbed Men Recovering After Southampton Rangers Disturbance

The two men stabbed during a disturbance outside Southampton Rangers Sports Club around 11pm Sunday, October 16th were continuing to recover at the hospital.

At last check the 32 year old Warwick man was in stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit while the 28 year old Pembroke man had been transferred to a general ward in stable condition.

Meanwhile a 29 year old Southampton man arrested for affray in the surrounding area has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Two Men in Critical Condition After Southampton Rangers Disturbance

Around 11pm on Sunday, October 16th police officers responded to a disturbance and unconfirmed firearm incident outside the Southampton Rangers Cricket Club.

Details remain unclear at this time. Initial reports suggested that shots were fired; however currently there is no forensic evidence to substantiate those reports.

As police personnel secured the scene, a 29 year old Southampton man was arrested for affray and remains in police custody at this time.
