Reported Attempted Armed Robbery at Arnold’s Express

Around 9:40pm on Wednesday, November 23rd police officers were dispatched to a reported attempted armed robbery at Arnold’s Express on Front Street in the City of Hamilton.

Initial information suggests that two unknown men entered the store, one brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, demanding money.

However, both suspects left the premises a short time later empty handed.

Traffic Advisory for MarketPlace Santa Claus Parade

The MarketPlace Santa Claus Parade is scheduled to take place in the City of Hamilton on Sunday, November 27th starting at 5pm. The following traffic advisories and parking restrictions will be in effect for the event.

From 3pm until the end of the parade Par-La-Ville Road between Front Street and Serpentine Road will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Witness Appeal: November 9th Hamilton Parish Collision

Inquiries continue regarding a reported two vehicle collision that occurred around 7pm Wednesday, November 9th on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish near the junction with Studio Lane involving a car and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist involved, a 50 year old Hamilton parish man, was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries reported.

Letter to the Bermuda Football Association Re: Police Field

On Tuesday, November 8th 2016 following a meeting with Mr. David Sabir of the Bermuda Football Association, Acting Deputy Commissioner Martin Weekes wrote the below copied letter to Mr. Sabir, for distribution to the various football clubs.

I write to you formally to consolidate the messages that have been delivered in recent weeks by a number of our officers including Assistant Commissioner of Police Daniels, Superintendent Howard, Inspector Devine and Sergeant Raynor on the topic of team members who have been identified as being involved in gangs and/or criminal activity.

Two Customs Officers Arrested Last Week in Separate Investigations

Two Customs officers have been placed on administrative leave by H.M. Customs after each was arrested last week in connection with separate proactive police investigations.

Both individuals have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Forfeiture of Monies Suspected of Being Criminal Proceeds

On Tuesday 22nd November, 2016 the Supreme Court ordered the forfeiture of $826,000 seized from a local hotel in March 2015. In a targeted operation, Bermuda Police Officers entered a hotel room to discover the cash secreted in a safe.

The Attorney General’s Chambers, represented by Deputy Solicitor General Shakira Dill Francois, and the Bermuda Police Service, utilized civil powers under the ‘Proceeds of Crime Act’ to restrain, and ultimately recover the monies that had been destined to be taken out of the island as suspected criminal proceeds.

Investigation Continues Into Eleventh Road Fatality

The investigation continues regarding the collision that claimed the life of 84 year old Maureen Peckett, Bermuda’s eleventh road fatality of the year.

Mrs. Peckett was seriously injured in a reported two car collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Melville Crescent around 9:45pm Thursday, October 20th and remained in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit until her passing 1:25pm Friday, November 11th.

In particular, police are now seeking the driver and or occupants of a small white car that was travelling west along South Road, Devonshire directly behind Mrs. Peckett’s car the night of the collision.

Motorcyclist Injured in Middle Road Devonshire Collision

Around 6:45pm on Tuesday, November 15th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported three vehicle collision at the junction of Middle Road and Montpelier Road in Devonshire, apparently involving a motorcycle and two cars.

Initial information suggested that the rider involved, a 48 year old Warwick man, sustained a serious leg injury and was taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment.

Eleventh Road Fatality of 2016: 84 Year Old Maureen Peckett

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 84 year old Maureen Peckett and extends condolences to her family and friends.

Mrs. Peckett was seriously injured in a reported two car collision on South Road in Devonshire near the junction with Melville Crescent around 9:45pm Thursday, October 20th and remained in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit until her passing 1:25pm Friday, November 11th.

Reported Assault in Sandys Parish [Updated]

Around 11:25am on Sunday, November 13th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported assault in the Long Bay Lane / Daniel’s Head Sandys parish area.

Details are limited at this time.

However, it appears that a 71 year old Sandys parish man sustained lacerations to his face and head after being assaulted by an unknown man with a crash helmet.
