The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 52 year old Jean-Paul Gauthier of Smith’s parish. Around 12:10 this morning, Mr. Gauthier was found in an unresponsive state by a member of staff in Flanagan’s Sports Bar on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. Paramedics attended the scene and attempted to revive the victim, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Mr.

Impaired Driving

At 12:30 this morning, Police attended a reported single vehicle damage only road traffic collision on Wilkinson Avenue in Hamilton parish. It appears that a blue Hyundai Getz car was traveling east on Wilkinson Avenue when the driver lost control, colliding with the west bound wall and then the east bound wall. As a result the car sustained extensive front end damage.

Attempted Breaking & Entering

At 12:55pm on Thursday, Police attended a reported attempted breaking and entering at a Tribe Road #1, Pembroke residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that earlier she heard a loud noise outside and went to investigate. She observed a man fleeing from outside a neighbour’s residence and alerted Police.

Around 1:35 this morning, Police attended the Robin Hood Pub & Restaurant on Richmond Road in Pembroke, after receiving a complaint of loud music. On arrival, a scuffle occurred between two groups of men. While attempting to restore order, Police recovered a blue vinyl covered object which was later discovered to be a taser. Shortly thereafter, the crowd promptly dispersed resulting in no arrests.

Around 12:10 this morning, Police attended a reported road traffic collision resulting in injury on North Shore Road in Devonshire, involving a rental cycle and a van. It appears that the van was traveling east on North Shore Road with the rental cycle traveling in the same direction behind the van. When the van attempted to make a right turn, the rental cycle collided with the rear of the vehicle.

Inter-Service Sports & Family Fun Day

An Inter-Service Sports and Family Fun Day is scheduled to take place at 10am on Saturday July 23, 2005 at the Police Field in Prospect. Teams from the Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Regiment, H.M. Customs, H.M. Corrections and Bermuda Fire Service will compete for prizes and team honours in the following disciplines:

At 4:50 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Marl Lane, Warwick residence. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant who stated that around 4:20am she awoke to find someone in her home. She alerted another occupant of the residence; however, the culprit made good his escape with $30 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

At 9:15 this morning, Police attended a reported breaking and entering at a Warwick guest property. On arrival officers spoke with the complainant, who is a visitor to the island. He stated that sometime between 12:30am and 6:15am today, an unknown culprit gained entry into his room. The culprit stole $112 in cash. Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Around 8:30pm on Saturday, Police attended a reported fire at Solomon’s jewelry store on Front Street in the City of Hamilton. The Bermuda Fire Service also attended the scene. On arrival officers observed flames coming from a display case at the front of the store. The fire was quickly brought under control and most of the damage was confined to the display case area.
