Victim in Fatal RTC Identified

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can now confirm the identity of the victim in that fatal road traffic collision which occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, as 48-year-old Filipino National, Lovella Cruz.

Ms. Cruz was riding her motorcycle east along Somerset Road, Sandys Parish, near the junction with Cricket Lane, when a motorcar traveling in the opposite direction crossed the centre line and the vehicles collided.

Ms. Cruz was transported via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment for her injuries but sadly, was pronounced dead a short time later.

The motorcar driver, a 35-year-old Bermudian male, was not injured in the collision. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

The investigation into this, the thirteenth road fatality for this year continues. Anyone with any information on this matter, is asked to contact Sergeant Anton Gilbert of the Roads Policing Unit on 717-2338 or via e-mail, agilbert@bps.bm.

We extend condolences to the family of the deceased.

A BPS Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist them during this difficult time.
