Bermuda Reserve Police Promotions

The Commissioner of Police as well as the Commandant of the Reserve Police is pleased to announce the recent promotion of six Reserve Police officers which took place at 4:30pm Friday, January 20th at Police Headquarters in Prospect Devonshire. His Excellency the Governor Sir Richard Gozney and other senior police officers were also on hand for the promotion ceremony.

Chief Inspector to Deputy Commandant

Deputy Commandant 1040 Cannoth Roberts – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on October 8th, 1987. Between 1987 and 2000, Deputy Commandant Roberts worked in various divisions within the organization such as Central Uniform, Western Uniform, Marine Section and Crime Patrol until he resigned on July 1st, 2000. In 2001, Deputy Commandant Roberts returned to the Bermuda Reserve Police and was reinstated as Inspector and immediately assumed responsibilities as officer in charge of Crime Patrol Division. On September 30th, 2004 Deputy Commandant Roberts was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector. In June 2010, Deputy Commandant Roberts assumed the responsibilities as Acting Superintendent until early 2011 when he took over as Acting Deputy Commandant.

Inspector to Chief Inspector

Chief Inspector 1397 Ron-Michel E. Davis – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on November 13th, 2001. Upon successfully completing training school, Chief Inspector Davis was deployed to Central Uniform Division, before being transferred to Crime Patrol Division. In June 2004 Inspector Davis was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In late 2006 Chief Inspector Davis became Acting Inspector and officer in charge of Crime Patrol. In February 2007 Chief Inspector Davis was promoted to the rank of Inspector. In April 2009, Chief Inspector Davis was appointed to the Senior Executive Group as Acting Staff Officer and later that year appointed to the substantive post of Staff Officer. Since June 2010, Chief Inspector Davis has been acting as Chief Inspector in the Corporate Services Department, Operations Department and Support Services Department.

Chief Inspector 1298 Arnim Donawa – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on November 18th, 1998.  Upon successfully completing Training School he was deployed to Central Uniform Division. In 2001, Chief Inspector Donawa was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Central Uniform Division where he assumed the responsibilities as Watch Sergeant. In June 2004, Chief Inspector Donawa was promoted to the rank of Inspector and transferred to Crime Patrol Division as the officer in charge. During his time as Inspector he had the opportunity to act as Chief Inspector on numerous occasions in various areas such as Corporate Services Department, Support Services Department and more recently in the Operations Department.

Constable to Sergeant

Sergeant 1306 Jeffrey Benevides – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on November 18th, 1998. Upon successfully completing Training School Sergeant Benevides was transferred to Western Uniform Division where he spent majority of his policing career. Between May 2010 and May 2011 Sergeant Benevides occasionally acted as Sergeant in Western Uniform Division. In mid-2011, Sergeant Benevides was appointed as Acting Sergeant and transferred to General Patrol Unit (GPU) in the capacity as Watch Sergeant.

Sergeant 1464 Steven McGuinness – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on October 25th, 2007. Upon successfully completing Training School Sergeant McGuinness was transferred to General Patrol Unit (GPU) where he has spent majority of policing career. In May 2011, Sergeant McGuinness was appointed as Acting Sergeant and assumed responsibilities as GPU Watch Sergeant. In June 2011, Sergeant McGuinness was transferred to Eastern Uniform Division where he continued in his capacity as Watch Sergeant.

Sergeant 1450 Richard Wallington – joined the Bermuda Reserve Police on April 14th, 2006.  Upon successfully completing Training School Sergeant Wallington was transferred to Eastern Uniform Division where he spent his first year and a half in the organization. In November 2007, Sergeant Wallington was transferred to General Patrol Unit (GPU). In May 2010, Sergeant Wallington was appointed as Acting Sergeant and assumed responsibilities as GPU Watch Sergeant. In June 2011, Sergeant Wallington was transferred to Central Uniform Division where he continued in his capacity as Watch Sergeant.


All incidents are under investigation.
